3. Abstract
Block chain technology has the power to transform various
industries including healthcare. It reduce the friction and
costs of current intermediaries presenting network.
Decentralized and programmable nature of block chain
applications can be used for the betterment of public and
private healthcare system. It has the ability to transform
healthcare, placing the patient at the center of the healthcare
ecosystem and increasing the security, privacy, and
interoperability of information related to health.

4. What is Healthcare?
Healthcare is the maintenance or improvement of health via the
prevention, diagnosis, treatment, recovery, or cure of disease,
illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairments in
people. Health care is delivered by health professionals and
allied health fields. Physicians and physician associates are a
part of these health professionals. Dentistry, pharmacy,
midwifery, nursing, medicine, optometry, audiology, psychology,
occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training and

5. What is Block chain?
Block chain was developed in 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto,
“unknown,” or rather a pseudonymous person and was
used as a core component of the digital currency, ‘bit
coin.’ A block chain is a distributed, public ledger,
recording transaction and tracking assets, and of which
immutability is guaranteed by a peer-to-peer network of
computers, not by any centralized authority. Assets can
be tangible, such as homes or cash, or they can be
intangible, such as patents or copyrights. A block chain
consists of ordered records arranged in a block structure.
Each data block contains a hash, time stamped batches of
recent transactions, and a hash of the previous block .
With this design, each block is connected in chronological
order and the connected blocks are called a block chain.

13. Conclusion
The cost of healthcare service across the world are
on the rise, and administrative expenses are the
largest contributor. Block chain can be one of those
technologies which can bring about a change in
these old habits and make way for faster, safer and
cheaper healthcare.
Block chain is still in the first phase of discovery, and
still needs to go through the disillusionment when
we can finally start using it practically in health care
industry. Many companies have already started
sprouting with healthcare solutions using
blockchains. It is only with combined help of both
the industry and the academia can we truly bring
out the potential of block chains.
