The
Eden Tarot
Consisting of 22 Arcana
with basis in the Rider-Waite Interpretations
illustrated and conceived by Adam Noble
These cards are a reconception of the traditional Rider-Waite
Major Arcana as scenes from the life of Adam and Eve. It was
my intention to tell an old story in a new way with an unusual
method. There is no set order to the cards. There is of course
the existing story of Adam and Eve, which provides the reader
an idea of when things are supposed to happen, but the cards
are numbered according to the progression of the Major Arcana,
which chronicle a spiritual journey in which the Fool (Adam)
discovers the World (Life). But really, these cards are intended to
be viewed randomly, the story revealing itself gradually.
Suggestion for use: Take the 22 cards and hold them in your
hand for a moment. Think of nothing. Shuf e them. Then,
thinking of a question, take three cards from anywhere you like
in the deck. Lay them down in front of you, from left to right.
The rst card represents the past, or the root of the problem.
Read the description of the card and the keyword after you take
a moment to study the card itself. Think about what you wanted
to know.
The second card represents the present, or the current status
of the problem. As before, study the card and think about how
it relates to what you are thinking about. Simply follow the
connections the images and words stimulate in your mind.
The nal card is the future, or a possible resolution to the
problem. Do the same with this card, but when you are done,
take all three cards and view them together. Try to peice them
together into a new story, using the pieces of the larger story
to make a new one. When you have done this, think about
yourself. In what ways can you relate to what you see in front of
you? Does it help you to see anything differently than you did
before?
Tarot cards are an ancient and fascinating way of letting a
story tell itself. These cards may be used as actual Tarot cards
(either with the simpli ed reading technique above or with
more advanced techniques such as the Celtic Cross) or they
may be viewed all at once as a complete narrative. It is always
important to remember that any oracular power these cards may
possess comes from the user; they are not ‘magic,’ they are a
means to become consciously aware of what we already know
subconsciously.

courted disaster, and some part of ourselves welcomed it.

trespass in their world, or we in theirs?

in them, I could see no ugliness, feel no pain. They promised
us everything, and delivered. If only…

We Built; We Survived. On what remained of Eden, we
built with our children a city. For a time, we came close to
happiness again …

The Star
Lilith went to live in shadow, and in time spawned her own
children, and they ruled in darkness, while ours ruled in
light. Each people considered themselves the True people.
How quickly we lost our paradise.

He was bright and quick, our rst experiment, and our best.
But his obsessions overcame him, and in the end he was lost
to us, even more than Lilith.

Our second experiment was everything Cain was not, and
by all accounts seemed a greater success. But to make him
better, we had to make him too much like us, and something
was missing …

Fleshed Cain grew to hate his cold, silver brother, and nally
succumbed to his madness. It was not until this moment that
we truly realized what we had done, and what we had truly
left behind in Eden.

The World
One nal piece of Eden survives, somewhere – The tree of
life, knowledge’s twin, could sweeten the Fruit’s bitter taste
and bring Eden back to the world.
