Research
I have worked on a range of research projects examining aspects of visual, motor and
cognitive function. My doctoral research focused on differences in how we use colour and
luminance information for perceiving visual stimuli and for eliciting motor responses to
them. This research developed my skills in creating computer programs that are precise in
displaying stimuli and collecting responses. I now build complete user-friendly research
tools that can manage a study from stimulus presentation through to data analysis. Using
these skills I have worked on projects such as examining the correlates of accuracy when
identifying faces. I have also developed tools to studying how human abilities change with
ageing, such as learning sequences or accuracy during fast reaching. I have collected over
200 hours of data on human participants, including using research tools that I have
developed or other standardised psychological tests.
My primary interests are in the differences in processing of visual information between
different tasks, and in the relationships between fitness and healthy aging.

English Teacher - Educational Training Organisation, Cambodia

Teaching English in rural Cambodia for two weeks was an experience in relinquishing
comforts in order to help children escape poverty. It involved teaching large classes of
children basic English, with limited instruction and preparation. I also recruited a number of
other English speakers to volunteer their time and assisted with developing the schools
income.
