Classical conditioning is a learning process where an involuntary response becomes associated with a stimulus other than the original trigger. It involves a reflex response to an unconditioned stimulus, which triggers an unconditioned response. Through repeated pairing with a neutral stimulus, the neutral stimulus can elicit a conditioned response, becoming a conditioned stimulus. The key elements are the unconditioned stimulus and response, the neutral stimulus that becomes conditioned, and the conditioned response it produces.
