4. GTA 1 Released
21st of October 1997
GTA Was Actually Born From A
Glitch
(Source - www.ladbible.com)
The initial game was incredibly unstable so every
time the police chased near the racer, they would
attempt to crash into them like their life depended
on it- sound familiar? Luckily the people in charge
absolutely loved this problem and decided to use
it as a base for a brand new game, with Grand
Theft Auto 1 ultimately coming not long after.
Next time you're taking part in a high speed
pursuit just think to what could have been and be
thankful, as some glitches aren't all that bad.
5. After the success of GTA 1 they decided to make a game based on their home land then BMG becomes ROCKSTAR
GTA 2 is the first game which has the
Rockstar games as the publisher. But still
DMA is the Developer.
*Note-
Then later in 2002 Rockstar bought DMA and
Renamed it as Rockstar North
6. GTA 2 Released
30th of September 1999
GTA II is a 2.5D game but it
is labelled as 2D game
However most people consider GTA, GTA 2
and GTA Advance to be 2D.The top-down
perspective looks to be 2D, and many
aspects of the game are (including the
vehicles and pedestrians).On the other
hand the player can clearly see the sides of
the buildings when going around them,
which are drawn on-the-fly from 3D models

8. Introducing GTA 3D Universe
Gta III was the first game to introduce 3D into GTA franchise
As you know GTA 1 was a 2D game and GTA 2 was a 2.5D Game.
The previous GrandTheft Auto games were successful but nowhere near the level of GTA 3. Modern gamers
won't understand how brutal the transition from 2D to 3D was for many video game companies.

9. How GTA 3 changed the open-world
genre completely
FIRSTTRUE OPENWORLD GAME was up for debate
But when we think about modern game design we have
GTA 3 to thank, large sandbox environments, Detailed
maps, Destruct able assets, wide variety of missions
and a cinematic story are all traits that made GTA 3 a
polished 3D open world game. (Source - MOJOPLAYS)
None of those games, however, managed to create worlds that were quite as vivid and interesting as GTA III’s – or quite as
destructible. The freedom to explore sprawling fantasy worlds was one thing, but being able to go apeshit in a convincing, mostly
consequence-free clockwork city was quite another (Source - Gameradar.)
ITTURNED OPEN-WORLD GAMES INTO A REAL GENRE
When GTA III hit, open-world games weren’t really a new
thing, but they were relatively rare.
POPULAR GAME GENRE OF 2000 WAS
RPG ,MMOs, FPS Shooter, Sport video games, Arcade
Games, Platform Games and Racing Games
10. Open world Games before GTA III
GTA III introduced the entire concept of an
open world where any vehicle was yours for
the taking. Of course, there’s a hint in the
game’s title that it wasn’t actually the first
time this type of gameplay existed, but
even aside from the earlier GTAs, DMA had
toyed with the concept in Space Station
Silicon Valley (where you didn’t hijack
vehicles so much as you possessed robotic
creatures) and Body Harvest, which came
awfully close to being a prototype for GTA
III’s 3D sandbox

11. Became template for other games
"It set a baseline expectation for what open worlds should offer, in the same way Mario 64 laid the
groundwork for a generation of 3D platform games." Says Michael Pattison from team 17
For King, the greatest legacy GrandTheft Auto 3 leaves is not its influence on games design, but its influence
on the wider world and the way video games are viewed.

• It's vital to reiterate that GTA 3 had a profound effect on the GrandTheft Auto series.
• Upon its initial release, the game was considered a revolutionary masterpiece.
• The NewYork time once stated that GTA 3 was:
“ One of the most influential and successful Games ever made.”
12. GAMES AFTER GTA 3
GTA Clone
The term became a
sub genre for games
characterized by their
likeness to the GTA
series in either
gameplay, or overall
design. In these types
of open world games,
players may find and
use a variety of
vehicles and weapons
while roaming freely in
an open world setting.

13. Design of Main Protagonist
Claude Speed
(gtaforums.com) (igrandtheftauto.com)
Claude is a character in the GrandTheft Auto series who appears
as the protagonist of GrandTheft Auto III (set in 2001), and a minor
character in GrandTheft Auto: San Andreas (set in 1992).
Claude was made as a fictional character without a voice actor.
14. Real People in the GTA series
GTA has also introduced many real life
personalities and celebrities into the HD Universe
(www.gta.fandom.com)
GTA started Use voice actors and Real
Character for their games after GTA III
15. GTA Locations That Are Based On Real-Life
A major part of this was the
setting. Liberty City felt like a
real place, more so than almost
any video game world before it.
While entirely fictional, those
cultural references and familiar
nods to the layout of New York
City made it feel more
authentic.
GTA games are set in based on
real-world places United States
cities, in a number of different
time periods.

16. "From a storytelling perspective, [we knew] it would
be much more immersive if you can actually get
down to the streets and go 3D," he tells
GamesIndustry.biz. "You couldn't really do it on a
PlayStation, Dreamcast couldn't really do it -- you
could maybe do fake 3D sort of isometric-ish stuff."
The development team at DMA Design, which would
become Rockstar North after the release of GTA 3,
had already experimented with 3D worlds. Nintendo
64 titles like Body Harvest and Space Station Silicon
Valley show the kernels of ideas that would evolve in
the open-world GTAs, and at the time GTA 3 was in
development, the team was further experimenting
withThe Warriors, which was in its early stages at the
time.

19. In GTA III Many of the game characters were animated
using motion capture, filmed at a rented studio at
the Brooklyn NavyYard, though this was limited by
technical constraints. The character movement was also
treated as being cinematic, though limited polygons heavily
inhibited this (en.wikipedia.org)
Up to the latest GTA GameThey
used Motion capture not just for
the physical movements but also
for facial expressions.
Started using Motion
Capture Technology
20. GAME MAP
Key team members conducted field trips around Southern
California to gather research and footage, and Google Maps
projections of Los Angeles were used to help design the city's road
networks.
MOTION CAPTURE
The proprietary Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) was
overhauled to increase its draw distance rendering capabilities.
The actors selected to portray the protagonists invested much time
and research into character development. Motion capture was
used to record the characters' facial and body movements.
RADIO STATION
the game features an in-game radio that plays a selection of
licensed music tracks.
An original score was composed over several years by a team of five
music producers.

25.
26. GTA III vs GTA VC
GTA III is highly innovative and has done a lot to bolster the series
upward, it is GTAVice City that most fans look back on fondly.
Ability to own properties
• Vice City is the first major GTA title where players can own different
assets
• Main protagonists
TommyVercetti has much higher ambitions, however.Voiced by the
wisecracking Ray Liotta,Vercetti is never without a witty one-liner.
• Overall atmosphere
Vice City is a lighter shade of darkness. It is the living embodiment of
every 80's stereotype: flashy cars, palm trees, white sand beaches, and
surreal visuals. The pulsating bright colors are a stark contrast to the
previous game.
27. GTA VC vs San Andreas
• Map regions to explore
San Andreas has three distinct cities - Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las
Venturas. From the countryside to a desert wasteland, there are regional
varieties for each location.
• Weapon selection
GTA San Andreas has 38 weapons in total, along with consumable items.
However, the auto-aim feature is a vast improvement in gameplay. There
are also weapon skills for each class,
2 - Swimming mechanics
• CJ is the first GTA protagonist in the GTA series with the ability to
swim.
28. GTA San Andreas Vs GTA IV
• Completely different characters
Niko is an ex-soldier and smuggler whose cynical nature often involves
him mocking Roman for the fakeAmerican dream he's been living.
While CJ is a gangster
• A shift in tone
GTA iv focus on realism makes it stand out from the rest of the series
in a big way.
• GTA 4 cut back on GTA San Andreas's customization
GTA 4 still has some of the great customization features found in GTA
San Andreas, but it removed tattoos, haircuts, vehicle customization,
and different body shapes from the game.
GTA 4 has better graphics than GTA San Andreas
Obviously all new had better graphics butThe transition from the 3D universe to the HD universe happened
when GTA 4 was released
29. GTA IV vs GTA V
• Customization
GTA 5 ups the game by allowing players to customize everything. This
angle gives players the freedom to sculpt their unique gameplay.
• Three protagonists
One massive aspect that Rockstar Games changed with GTA 5 was the
introduction of three protagonists in the story mode.
• Driving mechanics
GTA 4 is renowned for its incredibly realistic driving mechanics, which
makes it one jump higher than GTA 5.The former did a great job of
implementing the actual physics of a car,
• NPC missions
A great thing that GTA 5 did was the addition of random NPC missions
on the road. When you’re cruising around, and you hear a pedestrian
screaming for help, you can pull over and play the good samaritan.
