4. The Laurier Economics Club offers a wide variety of activities to support
the academic, social and professional goals of students studying eco-
nomics at Laurier. A key goal of the organization is to connect incoming
students, upper-year students, alumni and sponsoring organizations, and
in so doing strongly enhance the value of an economics degree at Lau-
rier. The activities planned for this year, including the Speaker Series and
Conference, will provide an excellent opportunity for students to see the
wide variety of career paths for economists, and to participate in key
debates within the profession.
As the undergraduate director in Economics, I see these activities as
strongly complementary to the opportunities offered through the depart-
ment. It has been wonderful to see the level of professionalism and vitali-
ty in the LEC executive for 2014/15, and I expect an outstanding year. If
you have any questions about the club or its activities, please feel free
to contact me directly.
