2. Major initiatives under NHM
ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists)- Play imp role in
immunization, disease control programmes (Malaria, Kala-azar and
Lymphatic filariasis, in particular) and improved breastfeeding.
Rogi Kalyan Samiti/Hospital Management Society- better
facilities to the patients in the hospital.
Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY)- to reduce maternal mortality.
Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK): absolutely free and no
expense delivery, including caesarean section.
The Untied Grants to Sub-Centres (SCs)- facilitated provision of
quality antenatal care and other healthcare services.

3. The Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee
(VHSNC)- public service monitoring.
National Mobile Medical Units (NMMUs)- Support has been
provided in 333 out of 672 districts for 1107 Mobile Medical Units
(MMUs) under NHM in the country.
National Ambulance Services (NAS):
People can dial 108 or 102 telephone number for calling an
ambulance.
Dial 108 -emergency response system to attend to patients of critical
care, trauma and accident victims etc.
Dial 102 services essentially consist of basic patient transport aimed
at the needs of pregnant women and children.
