1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
media products?
2. Opening Sequence
Like most films we‟ve put opening credits in our 2 min opening sequence. We followed the
traditional order of what titles come first and what comes next. When a new character is
shown we put the actor name for that character. I have used a thin font for our film as I
think it suits the film. A bold and thick font is more for comedy films and it will make the
film seem less serious.
3. Enigma Codes…
Our film opening sequence challenges the enigma codes. We want the opening sequence to
not make sense for the audience as they would want to find out why and what is going on.
The first scene will make no sense to
the audience, they don‟t know why this
character has suddenly appeared and
will most likely want to know more.
The second character that appears without his face
being revealed. This is another enigma we decided to
add as the audience will want to know who this
character is.
Our film uses diegetic and non diegetic sounds to create
atmosphere. Diegetic sounds would be the voices and natural
sounds of the woods. Non diegetic sounds would be the music. The
music would also be the ambient sounds as it helps create the
enigma atmosphere.

…And when we reach this shot we would
think “why is he killing that person”. Our
When we reach this shot here, we immediately would opening sequence leaves lot‟s of questions
think “why is he chasing him”… for the audience. To know the answer to
those questions the audience will have/want
to watch the whole film.
These two scenes are where
the „mysterious voice‟ plays.
Again, the audience will want
to find out why the character
is hearing these voices…
5. Action Codes…
Our film genre is „action‟. We mainly focused on the action codes as this is what will make
the film appeal to the audience. Iconography is key to showing that the film is an action
genre.
Our film opening involves an knife and an axe which obviously suggest danger. Sharp items
usually connotes death and action which is typical in action films.
Our film shows blood as shown on the screenshot above. We done this because the colour
of blood usually connotes death and danger in action films…
6. …Action Codes
continued
Our film also shows the action codes by the use of mise en scene that‟s in the frame.
The location we chose sets in the woods,
Which is a great location for chases. Most
chase scenes in action films hold a lot of
obstacles for the chaser and runner. The
woods is a great location for a chase scene as
it has quite a lot of trees which the two
characters will have to avoid.
7. Production Logo
The logo is important
and conventional for all films.
My logo design may seem
random but I think it suits the
action genre, as it follows the
main theme for action films
„good vs. evil‟. The pig starts
Looking innocent and
transitions to an evil look. This
contrasts the
difference betwee
good and evil.
