Curatorial Teaching - Notes - Presentation Transcript

    1. Curatorial Teaching Notes on George Siemens 10 minute lecture
    2. Issues with Online Learning Any student with access to the web has  access to all the same materials/resources that the teacher has. Teachers can't expect learners to navigate  an effective path through all these resources without some guidance.
    3. Possible Solution Curatorial Teaching  Teacher as Curator - creating an exhibition  of material that will enable effective learning. The exhibition could include a variety  of 'artefacts' available from the web. Structure provided by the 'curator'. 
    4. Challenges of Curatorial Teaching Students to create their own path with  structured guidance from curator. Reluctance of students to make their own  path - dependence on teacher as 'expert'. Achieving objectives of external  requirements - such as exam board or industry. Instructor not neutral but a participant. 
