How athletes should take care of their wealth
1. HOW ATHLETES SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THEIR WEALTH
One might think that the easy way to earn money is to become a professional athlete. Sure you
don’t only bring in a huge sum of money in your pockets but you also get the perks of being
famous. However, there have been studies proving that many of the athletes we idolized before
have gone bankrupt.
Aside from the pressure they are constantly put on, many athletes are blinded by their instant
wealth and failed to invest their money on something that will help them in the long run,
financially that is.
I have always been into sports and have idolized many athletes, even up to the present. The
love I have for sports has caused me to know more about the financial problems that athletes
go through.
I am fond of watching football and out of all the football players out there who play for many
teams, Winfred Tubbs got my attention.
Tubbs played for the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers. After watching him play in
seven NFL seasons, I could definitely say that he plays very well. But what made me like him
even more, aside from his performance in the field, is the fact that he knows how to deal with
his finances. Unlike other athletes who spend their money right away without having second
thoughts on the consequences of their actions, he was smart enough to not follow the trend.
I was curious on how he manage his finances well so I made a little research. It turns out that
he is working with Ed Butowsky, a respectable and highly-renowned expert on wealth
management industry. Not to mention that he regularly imparts his views on the financial world
in Fox News, CNN, Fox News Channel and Bloomberg TV and financial adviser of athletes and
coaches.
I continued with my research and found out that he had contributed immensely to the article in
“Sports Illustrated” entitled “How and Why Athletes Go Broke”. I read the article and I have
proven to myself that he is really an effective financial adviser to athletes. He knows where the
athletes have gone wrong on their finances and he knows exactly how to get them back on
track.
The key on how athletes, both amateur and professional, should take care of their wealth is to
get someone who will help him manage his finances and wealth. But the athletes need to
consider the credibility of their financial adviser. He must be trusted, experienced and no doubt
an expert on these things. Good thing William Tubbs has Ed Butowsky.
