Windows 8.1 is compatible with all of your existing investments. The hardware requirement for Windows 8.1 are unchanged from Windows 8.0. All of the great Windows 8 devices you have will become even better Windows 8.1 devices.Your app investments carry forward as well. With Windows 8.1 all of your apps work as well as they did in Windows 8. Your desktop apps, new Windows apps, or Web based apps continue to work.

Enable IT to provide users with access to the corporate resources (including apps) they need on the devices they choose (including personal devices). Unify Management Infrastructure. Reduce costs, maintain compliance, and improve IT efficiency by unifying management and security for PCs and mobile devices in a single infrastructure. System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 and Windows Intune combine via a single admin console to help unify device management across a wide variety of device types. - By combining Intune and System Center, customers can manage their existing Windows clients, Windows 8 and Windows RT device, and if required MAC OS, IOS, and Android (Exchange Active Sync). - While System Center deep management functionality is the best solution for Windows 8, Windows To Go, and MAC OSX, Intune provides the management functionality for Windows Phone 8, iOS, and Android devices (Android via EAS). This enables customers to choose the right client for their needs without sacrificing management and security. - With Intune, the infrastructure is based entirely in the cloud, so in effect all devices are managed remotely.
