Profile - Colonel Ashok K Singh; Veteran
Convener; Indian Veterans for Democracy
Colonel Ashok Kumar Singh; Veteran is an ex-army officer who took premature retirement after distinguished
service of 22 year. Presently the officer is working in corporates at a senior management position in the area of
business partnership and operations.
Colonel Singh,who is basically a strategist, planner and operation leader, is an alumni of Defence Services Staff

College; Wellington and XLRI Jamshedpur. He was commissioned in 5 Battalion of MADRAS REGIMENT of Indian
Army in 1985. While on tour of his duties, he took part in various operations in Sri Lanka and within the country
in J&K and North East. He has held many coveted assignments; Adjutant of Regt Centre, Brigade Major of a
mountain brigade in operations, Instructor in Infantry School, GSO-1 (SD/WE) in HQ Rashtriya Rifles (RR),
Assistant Military Secy of a Command HQs, Command of his own regiment in operations, Colonel General Staff
‘RED FOR’; a think tank in Army Training Command.
In addition he has worked on various reputed projects and research work related to C4I, assessment of risks and
threats, creating possible scenarios in war games at national and operational level and working out possible
military and security strategies. His notable contribution has been in realistically assessing the Chinese military
capabilities and build up in Tibet which finally led to India taking certain appropriate counter measures. He was
awarded MSc by Madras University for his work while at Defence Services College and also writing a dissertation
on “Role of Armed Forces in Nation Building”.
In recognition of his service to the nation, he has won many medal and awards.
In corporate world, he has been working for last 4 years in various senior management positions in Operations,
Business Partnership, HR and IT Systems. His contribution has led to his companies winning few awards at
national level.
Presently as a responsible citizen to strengthen the nation building efforts and democracy, he in his spare time
has convened a non affiliate political front of the retired officers and soldiers of armed forces with an objective to
bring them in development mainstream. He keeps on writing and twitting on various relevant subjects as his
personal opinion.
