10. “Blessed are those who are
spiritually needy.
For the Kingdom of
Heaven belongs to them.
11. Jesus told a story to some
people who were sure they were
right with God. They looked down
on everybody else. He said to
them, “Two men went up to the
temple to pray. One was a
Pharisee. The other was a tax
collector.
“ The Pharisee stood up and
prayed about himself.
12. ‘ God, I thank you that I am not
like other people,’ he said. ‘I am
not like robbers or those who do
other evil things. I am not like
those who commit adultery. I am
not even like this tax collector. I
fast twice a week. And I give a
tenth of all I get.’
13. “ But the tax collector stood not
very far away. He would not even
look up to heaven. He beat his
chest and said, ‘God, have mercy
on me. I am a sinner.’
14. “ I tell you, the tax collector went
home accepted by God. But not
the Pharisee. Everyone who lifts
himself up will be brought down.
And anyone who is brought down
will be lifted up.”
15. People who are poor in spirit…
Admit their strengths and
weaknesses
Don’t think they are better than
others
Don’t try for a false, macho
image
Don’t always have to have their
own way
Allows others to help them
Are not too concerned about
what they have or don’t have
16. Jesus says that only the
spiritually needy will enter into
the kingdom of God because they
confess and turn to Jesus.
18. People who mourn…
They notice and understand
when others are upset
They of fer support when others
are sad or going through a
rough time
They show concern when they
see suf fering throughout the
world
19. When we want happiness at any
cost the lines between right and
wrong can become blurred and
we stop seeing how far apart
from Jesus we have become.
We need to recognize that we are
sinners and understand how
much our sins not only hurt
others but how much they hurt
God.
20. Blessed are those who are
free of pride.
They will be given the
earth.
21. “ Come to me, all of you who are
tired and are carrying heavy
loads. I will give you rest.
Become my servants and learn
from me. I am gentle and free of
pride. You will find rest for your
souls. Serving me is easy, and my
load is light.”
22. People who are fee of pride…
They don’t try to get their way by
using physical, verbal or
emotional violence
They don’t try to make others
feel stupid, or push others
around!
Even when they know they are
right
they won’t try to manipulate
23. Blessed are those who are
hungry and thirsty for what
is right.
They will be filled.
25. People who hunger and thirst for
what is right…
stick up for those who are being
treated unfairly and
are willing to give people a
second chance if they mess up
31. Psalm 119:9
How can a person keep there
heart pure?
By living in keeping with the
Word of God.
32. People who are pure in heart…
are committed to being a good
friend always; they are not hot
one day and cold the next
They have the best of intentions
in dealing with others
Deception and lies destroy purity and it
contaminates what is pure.
34. So let us do all we can to live in
peace. And let us work hard to
build each other up.
Romans 14:19
35. People who are peacemakers…
Help patch things up between
people
They promote working together
rather than breaking up
relationships
36. Blessed are those who suffer
for doing what is right.
The kingdom of heaven
belongs to them.
37. “Blessed are you when people
make fun of you and hurt you
because of me. You are also
blessed when they tell all kinds of
evil lies about you because of me.
39. Everyone who wants to live a Godly life
in Christ Jesus will be persecuted
while evildoers and impostors will go
from bad to worse, deceiving and being
deceived.

and tried to hurt me, they will do the
same to you. If they obeyed my
teaching, they will obey yours also.

41. People who are persecuted for
doing right…
They are not afraid to stick up
for people and things they
believe in, even if others make
fun of them
56. Honor the Lord with your wealth.
Give him the first share of all
your crops.
Then your storerooms will be so
full they can’t hold everything.
