The iPhone Mailbox App is a new system
for organizing your email so that you get
to choose when they are actioned.
By using swipe gestures the iPhone Mailbox App helps you to quickly clear your inbox and just
focus on the important tasks.
The killer feature of the iPhone Mailbox App is that it has a snooze
button, allowing you to put off emails until later.
Developed by Orchestra, the iPhone Mailbox App has the familiar look of a mobile mail app, but
adds simple swipe controls for categorizing and prioritizing messages.
“We started this company on this belief that people use e-mail like a terrible
to-do list,” said Gentry Underwood, founder and CEO of Orchestra.
2. The app’s solution is to quickly clear emails from your inbox that aren’t urgent, so you can
concentrate on what needs doing immediately.
The iPhone Mailbox App is based on Inbox Zero, which has always been a popular way to deal
with a full inbox. It’s a method for clearing out clutter and handling e-mails requiring action
promoted by Merlin Mann, founder of the 43 Folders blog.
“There are a lot of things hanging around there that just can’t be dealt with
until some other time and yet they stare back at you and nag,” said
Underwood.
The Mailbox App’s various gestures make the process easy and enjoyable. Once you get the hang
of the swiping gestures, the organising process is simple and quick and is done without thinking.
Now you need not worry about where or what to do with all those emails from your boss, one
swipe gesture means it can be dealt with at a later date.
“A third of our beta testers get to Inbox Zero once a week,” said
Underwood. “When you do get to zero it doesn’t mean you have nothing left
to do, it means you have nothing left to do right now.”
That’s the beauty of the iPhone Mailbox App, it’s all about time management, getting your work
done to allow more time for you to have a life. Leveraging your time so that you can choose when
to work and when to take time out for the better things in life is a luxury all of us aspire to.
