2. WHAT IS IT?
A bag valve mask (BVM), sometimes
known by the proprietary name
Ambu bag or generically as a manual
resuscitator or "self-inflating bag", is
a hand-held device commonly used
to provide positive pressure
ventilation to patients who are not
breathing or not breathing
adequately.
3. WHY IS IT CALLED AN AMBU
BAG?
In 1954, a shortage of
oxygen deliveries to Danish
hospitals prompted him to
invent the first self-inflating
resuscitator, the Air Mask
Bag Unit (AMBU). ... The
Danish manufacturer, Testa
Laboratory made the first
commercially produced
Ambu bags in 1957. The
company later changed its
name to Ambu
International.
4. HOW MUCH OXYGEN DOES A BAG VALVE MASK
DELIVER?
An adult BVM with
oxygen supplied at a
minimum of 15 liters per
minute and a full
reservoir can provide up
to 1.5 liters of oxygen
delivered per breath
5. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VENTILATION
AND OXYGENATION?
In reality they are really very different. Ventilation exchanges air between
the lungs and the atmosphere so that oxygen can be absorbed and carbon
dioxide can be eliminated. Oxygenation is simply the addition of oxygen to
the body.

7. WHAT IS THE CAPACITY OF AMBU BAG? 1600 ml
Capacity :1600 ml.
Adult Ambu Bag -
1600Ml. Self inflating
double ended silicon
bag with mounts
incorporating reservoir
valve and side feed
oxygen inlet, type "L"
non rebreathing Valve
with pressure limiting
device wherein it will
open if the inspiratory
pressure is more than
60cms of water.
