Everybody wants to be an excellent communicator but what are the real secrets to becoming an excellent
communicator? Besides all that have you really thought about what it takes to communicate well? And have ever
thought of how important it’s for you to become an excellent communicator?
Well if you haven’t communication is the most important
aspect of being a human being.
You owe it to yourself to learn a little bit so you can get better at understanding people. And maybe in time you can
become an excellent communicator. Think of your spouse or partner, or your children, and even your friends… If you
could just speak with them better wouldn’t your life be a ton better?
Because you know the answer, I’m sure you’ll keep reading this blog all the way to the end. Because these simple
tips I’ll share with you can really make your life a whole lot easier. Not only will your life get easier but your
relationships will get better, and you’ll find that your confidence will get better as you become an excellent
communicator. Think of working on communication as a way of working on yourself.

2. 1) Wait before you speak –
When you’re talking to someone, it’s important that you listen to the person you are speaking to genuinely and not
only that, if you REALLY want to become an excellent communicator then you should wait for a few seconds after the
person stops speaking before you respond. This does a few things, first of all it shows that you are paying attention
and not just waiting for your turn to speak. Second it gives you time to process what the other person is saying before
respond you can respond with a clearer more thought out answer. And third it assures that you are not interrupting
the other person in case they are just catching their breath before the next sentence. Patience is definitely plays a
very important role in becoming an excellent communicator.
2) Ask for Clarity –
When you feel that the person you are communicating with is finally finished with what they were saying it is always s
good to ask for clarity. It’s important to never assume that you know what the message is the other person you are
speaking with is trying to convey. Instead of making a mistake try asking them if you are correct in your
understanding what they are saying by repeating what they said in a the form of a question. You can start it like this,
“so let me get this clear… You are trying to say this?” This shows you were paying attention and that you care.
3) Make Eye Contact and Focus –
There is more to becoming an excellent communicator than just speaking. Body language and facial expressions are
more important than speaking is, and eye contact plays a huge part in this. Make eye contact to show that you are
engaged in what the other person is saying, look for a few seconds at a time only as staring a person down can be
creepy or a sign of aggression. It’s also important that you use all of your will power to focus on what the person you
are speaking with is saying; a lot of people allow their mind to wonder while they are in the middle of a conversation.
If you follow these three steps every time you speak with someone you will be labeled as an excellent communicator
and over time you will get better and better at communicating. My biggest piece of advice is to begin studying
excellent communicators on a daily basis.
