                                       (ALLOW named small organic molecules)
            (Nitrifying bacteria):     Ammonia/ammonium to nitrate;

                                       Aerobic/use of oxygen/by oxidation; [ALLOW correct symbols]

      (b)   (Increase in carbon dioxide because) –
            Burning releases carbon dioxide; [IGNORE ref. to felling]
