1. After a year of little trust between Canadians and the Japanese, after
Japan bomb pearl harbour. On February, 1942 the government took the
Japanese away to a remote area in B.C. away from any other
Canadians.
This is wrong and denies
Equality rights(section 15): Every individual is equal before and
under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal
benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular,
without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin.
-Canadians denied this right by only taking Japanese and no other
people, and treating the Japanese differently.
Mobility rights(section 6): Every citizen of Canada has the right to
enter, remain in and leave -Canada Canadians didn’t let
the Japanese move around, or leave
Fundamental freedoms (section 2): freedom of association
-Canadians denied this freedom by not letting the Japanese
association with Canadian’s, and making them live in a area in a
remote area in B.C.
General(section 27) This Charter shall be interpreted in a manner
consistent with the preservation and enhancement of the
multicultural heritage of Canadians
-Canadians denied this right by treating the Japanese wrong
because of their japanese heritage and origin
This would not happen now because of the Canadian charter of rights
and freedoms.
