The document outlines the key steps in an open heart surgery procedure. It begins with pre-operative procedures like administering anesthesia and preparing the surgical site. During surgery, the breastbone is cut open to expose the heart. The heart-lung machine is connected to support circulation and oxygenation while the surgery is performed. Steps include inserting graft vessels to bypass blockages. After surgery, drainage tubes are placed and the breastbone is closed with metal sutures. Post-operative recovery follows the procedure. Contact information is provided for further details on open heart surgeries.
5. • Help patients -- A friend, colleague or a family member. Many
patients feel better and mentally prepared when they know the
procedure before hand.
• Be aware and knowledgeable– No panicky in times of need
• I have had the opportunity to attend the medical conference on
operating procedures – Chance to see the operation
8. • Wear Surgery gown.
• Patients need to be administered General anaesthesia by injection
and inhalation mask.
• Shave the chest region and area of the body from which graft vessels
will be removed.
• Apply a anti-septic solution and place a sterile drape around the
operative site.
• Incision at those points like leg, chest etc from where the blood vessel
has been taken will be sutured.
9. STEP – 1: Vertical Incision on the center of the chest.
17. STEP-1: Close the breastbone with metal wire-sutures-bandage
