Introduction
Thank you, Obrigado, Maita basa, Ngiyabonga, ke a leboga, ndo a livhuwa, kala po nawa,
mpandu unene, dankie, grazie, origato, sukria ...
The phrase "THANK YOU" possesses a certain enchanting quality, and in this series, we shall
utilize those two words to convey our immense gratitude towards our Divine Father. Over the
next 31 days, our sole focus will be on expressing appreciation towards the Creator for all that
He has accomplished and continues to do for us. We shall delve into areas of life that are often
overlooked or taken for granted, recognizing their significance and thanking Him
wholeheartedly for each one.
Frequently, we fail to appreciate the abundance of blessings and graces that we receive on a
daily basis. Cultivating an attitude of gratitude is imperative. It has been said that ingratitude is
akin to a flat tire - progress cannot be made until it is changed. Furthermore, in our culture,
there is a phrase: 'kusatenda huroyi', which translates to ingratitude is like witchcraft. Quite a
strong sentiment but very true.
Gratitude, as defined by the Oxford dictionary, is characterized by being thankful and having a
readiness to express appreciation for kindness shown. It involves acknowledging good deeds
done on one's behalf by others. "Gratitude is a conscious and positive emotion that can be
expressed when feeling thankful for something, whether tangible or intangible," (P.C Mayor).
As human beings we are inherently self-centered and thus not born with gratitude; it must be
learned and developed over time. This is why children are taught from a young age to say thank
you when receiving something. In my Shona culture, showing appreciation involves clapping in
a traditional manner whenever one receives anything. I cherished giving gifts to my
grandmother because no matter how small or simple the gift was, she would joyously sing and
dance as an expression of gratitude that made me feel like the most important person in the
world at that moment.
In addition to these cultural practices, many people recite their family's ancestral motto (known
as a "totem") as another way of expressing thanks towards those who have shown them

kindness. For example, if a wife repeatedly recites her husband's ancestral totem each time he
does something nice for her, he will often go above and beyond just so he can experience this
display of gratitude again - it truly works like magic! Depending on cultural norms or personal
preference some people might kneel down or hug you tightly while crying tears of happiness.
All these expressions of gratitude are ways we learn from observing others around us; they
become ingrained in our behavior through imitation over time. Therefore beloved ones never
forget that cultivating an attitude of gratitude is always worth pursuing – hence this devotional
‘Grateful Daily’! My prayer is that it will help you develop the art of being grateful towards God
and all those who show you kindness throughout your life journey.
Gratitude is an invaluable key that unlocks the doors to blessings. Have you ever given someone
a simple gift, yet their expression of gratitude left you yearning to give them more? A grateful
person leaves a lasting impression. Gratitude has the power to open people's hearts therefore
just imagine what expressing gratitude towards God can do for your life - it opens heaven's
gates.
Practicing gratitude brings peace; the more grateful one is, the greater sense of tranquility they
feel. Furthermore, practicing gratitude instills joy in one's heart and drives away worry and fear.
Positivity radiates from those who practice gratitude which becomes a source of energy
enabling them to pursue challenging tasks with ease. When one focuses on positive aspects of
their life, they tend to attract even more goodness into their lives - as Oprah Winfrey once
affirmed: 'be thankful for what you have; you will end up having more. If you concentrate on
what you don't have, then nothing will be enough.'
Personally speaking, I've discovered that expressing gratitude helps me focus on my blessings
instead of worrying about things beyond my control. A grateful attitude allows me stay focused
on all that I possess rather than dwelling on lack thereof. It comes as no surprise then that
Melody Beattie described gratitude as a remedy capable of curing us from worry, anxiety, stress
or uncertainty among other negative emotions.'

Gratitude turns what we have into enough and much more besides; it transforms denial into
acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity...it makes perfect sense out of our past
experiences while bringing peace today and creating a vision for tomorrow.
Gratitude should be a way of life. Each morning, upon opening your eyes, express gratitude; as
you place your feet on the floor and take that first step, do so with thankfulness in your heart.
Give thanks for life itself, for the breath of life which sustains you, and for having the strength
to walk after lying down for eight straight hours. We often take these things for granted -
believing it is our alarm that wakes us up or our own strength that allows us to rise and breathe
and move - but we must recognize that it is all by the grace of God. Be grateful.
Maya Angelou once wrote: "Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your
nightly prayer." As you pray before retiring each night, let those prayers overflow with
expressions of gratitude toward the Lord for what He has done in your life. While it's natural to
present Him with a list of wants during prayer (as Jesus taught), we ought also open our eyes to
see His goodness evident in our daily lives and thank Him accordingly.
The Apostle Paul urged believers in Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in
every situation...present your requests to God...with thanksgiving.” Let's strive then to create
longer lists expressing gratitude rather than lengthy lists focused on needs alone; indeed, such
an attitude of gratitude is integral when communicating with God through prayer.
Each year presents its own set of challenges, yet we remain alive and given the opportunity to
glorify His Name once more. As we embark on each new year, let us seize the chance to express
our gratitude daily until the end of it. Let us stride into the future with a grateful heart that is
free from worry.
In this gratitude devotional we are enrolling into the School of Gratitude and we will be
thankful for both big and small things. Certain aspects may seem unimportant or go unnoticed
due to their effortless nature; however, they are crucial nonetheless. I have a friend who fell ill
and had to relearn how to speak and eat again; upon narrating her story, she realized how

arduous talking can be. Another loved one broke his leg and was forced to learn how to walk
anew - after taking less than ten steps, he was drenched in sweat from exhaustion. It is during
such circumstances that one realizes just how significant everything truly is.
In the seventeenth chapter of Luke's gospel, Jesus encountered ten Lepers who cried out to
Him as He passed through their village. They beseeched Him for mercy and healing, having
likely heard of His great healings and miracles. Jesus heard their pleas and instructed them to
present themselves to the priests. While en route to do so, they were cleansed of leprosy. Luke
17:15 - 19 recounts that "one of them, when he saw that he was healed,"turned back toward
Jesus with a loud voice glorifying God; he fell down on his face at His feet in gratitude. This man
happened to be a Samaritan, leading Jesus to question why only one out of ten had returned "to
give glory to God."The Lord then said unto him, "Arise go thy way: thy faith hath made thee
whole."
It is noteworthy how all ten Lepers were cured while journeying towards the priest but only one
could not continue without acknowledging the One responsible for such an incredible feat. How
often have we witnessed divine intervention yet continued our lives as though nothing has
occurred? This serves as a lesson for us all: upon experiencing something positive or life-
changing, let us turn back immediately in thanksgiving and honor God's name.
Furthermore, it bears mentioning that the sole individual who expressed his appreciation by
returning was identified as a Samaritan or 'stranger.' The other nine shared Jesus' ethnicity and
culture which may have led some to feel entitled rather than grateful for their miraculous cure.
Have we become Christians who feel entitled to blessings forgetting our duty is also giving
thanks? Has familiarity with goodness caused us blind spots regarding even small wonders
occurring daily?
Finally, the most remarkable aspect of this encounter lies in the fact that the afflicted man was
not merely healed but 'made whole'. Leprosy does not only affect one's skin; at times, it can

lead to amputation of limbs and other body parts. Therefore, this man experienced a complete
restoration of his physical well-being - a truly beautiful outcome. Gratitude begets more than
just an initial blessing; it also brings about restoration of what has been lost. In essence,
gratitude doubles one's blessings. Do yourself a favor and cultivate a life marked by gratitude!
How do we convey our appreciation towards others?
Express gratitude by saying thank you. If the person is present, let them know how thankful you
are and depending on your relationship with them, consider hugging or clapping for them (if it's
culturally appropriate). Some people may even kneel down and offer words of praise to show
their appreciation. This isn't worshiping the person, but rather showing genuine gratitude.
If someone sends a gift or money transfer from afar, be sure to call or send a well-written
message expressing your thanks as soon as possible. A simple text or WhatsApp message that
says ‘thanks’ won't suffice. And if the giver is nearby, make an effort to visit them and express
your gratitude in person.
It can be disheartening for givers when they don't receive timely expressions of thanks from
recipients. Don't wait several days or weeks to say thank you - do it promptly! Remember that
while gifts aren't given solely for praise, showing gratitude makes you a better receiver.
Many important people in our lives go underappreciated until they're no longer around:
parents, guardians, spouses, pastors, leaders, bosses...the list goes on. It's easy to assume that
these individuals are simply doing what's expected of them without acknowledging all of the
sacrifices they've made along the way. Take some time to reflect on those who have positively
impacted your life and make a promise to yourself that you'll intentionally seek out
opportunities to express your gratitude towards them verbally.

And finally - how can we express our gratitude towards God?
Express gratitude in prayer by specifically mentioning the things you are thankful for, rather
than simply stating 'thank you God for everything'. During your daily routine, when you
experience divine intervention in completing tasks, silently whisper a thanksgiving message to
God.
Countless times I have encountered challenging dental extractions where my knowledge and
skills were insufficient. In such instances, I humbly ask God for guidance and strength to
manage the situation. After a few moments of prayerful reflection, the tooth miraculously
loosens and comes off effortlessly. With a smile on my face behind my mask, I express
appreciation to God whispering, 'thank you Father' because He is faithful.
Show gratitude through song and dance as an act of worship when the Lord has done great
things in your life.
Sharing testimonies about God's goodness with others is another way of expressing gratitude.
As Psalm 9:1 says, “I will give thanks to You with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders.”
According to Revelations 12:11, "they overcame by the blood of the lamb and by word of their
testimony".
Lastly, show gratitude towards God by being kind-hearted towards others while also spreading
positivity all around us so that our world can become a better place.
Therefore my beloved, 'Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds
among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works!' Psalms
105:1-2

How to read this book
It is my greatest wish that you get the most out of this devotional and that it will transform your
relationship with God, yourself and others.
This devotional can be used individually, by prayer groups or families.
Here is a guide on how I do my devotions and it has helped me in my spiritual journey.
Set aside a specific time that you dedicate to shut yourself in and read the devotional.
Create a conducive environment which allows you to study the devotional without noise and
other distractions.
Have with you your own journal where you write down your thoughts and any inspirations that
you get during your devotion.
Pray before starting. Ask for God’s presence, ask for understanding and revelation from Him
who gave us the word. Ask that the scriptures you will read will be breathed into life and will
become food to your spirit.
Read the passage.
Reflect and meditate on the scripture readings shared on that passage.
There is a guided prayer on each devotion but let that become a springboard that helps you dive
into deeper prayers. As you pray be conscious of people’s names, situations and places that
may pop into your mind. Pray for them too.
Throughout the day keep meditating on the message read and ask God to make that word to
take root into your heart.
I sincerely pray that by the time you complete the 31 days, a lifestyle of gratitude will be established
within you and you will be able to continue going into the secret place, reading the word, meditating,
praying and giving thanks.

One
Thank you for the marvel of creation.
As I awaken to the sound of roosters and the sweet melody of birdsong, I draw back my
curtains to behold the breathtaking sunrise, inhaling deeply the refreshing scent of rain as I
witness the world stirring to life. In this moment, I am filled with gratitude for your divine hand
in crafting such a wondrous world for us.
The natural world around us is a testament to the incredible creativity and greatness of our
Creator. From the birds soaring high in the sky, to the fish swimming deep in the sea, to all the
creatures big and small that crawl upon the earth, each one is a shining example of His
handiwork. The trees towering above us, with their lush leaves and intricate branches, are a
symbol of His enduring love for us. Even the majestic mountains and serene valleys speak to His
power and majesty.
These wonders of nature are not just beautiful sights for us to behold; they hold valuable
lessons for us as well. As Job 12:7-10 reminds us, we can learn from them if we only ask. The
animals can teach us about loyalty and devotion, while the birds can show us how to soar
above life's challenges. The earth itself can impart wisdom on perseverance and resilience,
while the fish remind us of the importance of adaptability.
All these things remind us that it is truly God who holds every creature's life in His hands. From
the tiniest insect to humankind itself, He has given each one breath and purpose. May we
always be grateful for these gifts and seek to live our lives in harmony with all of creation.
Prayer
Thank you, Lord, for fashioning both heaven and earth and all that exists within them. By your
mighty decree every aspect was brought into being so that we may have all we require. Your
meticulous attention to detail leaves me awestruck as I contemplate it all. Amen

Two
Thank you for ecological harmony.
I have a deep love and appreciation for the classic film, Lion King. In fact, I've lost count of how
many times I've watched it over the years. But what truly captivates me about this movie is the
concept of the Circle of Life.
The Circle of Life is an ecological metaphor that extends beyond just our human experience. It
intertwines both the supernatural and physical world, connecting all living beings and their
environment in a grand cycle of existence. As Mufasa so eloquently explains to his son Simba
before his untimely death, "when we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat
the grass, and so we are all connected in the great circle of life."
This profound notion highlights the interconnectedness between all creatures on this planet -
from small insects to massive mammals like lions - each playing a vital role knowingly or
unknowingly in maintaining balance within their respective ecosystems. The earth itself is
teeming with life beyond measure as noted in Psalm 104:24-25. In essence, Lion King's
portrayal of the Circle of Life serves as a powerful reminder that every living being has a
purpose and place within this intricate web of existence. We must strive to respect and nurture
these connections if we hope to maintain a healthy planet for generations to come.
Prayer
When the rain falls from above, a wondrous and yet eerie occurrence takes place on the ground
below. As I gaze upon the multitude of creepy crawly creatures that emerge from their
subterranean dwellings, my mind is filled with a sense of awe and curiosity. It is then that I am
reminded of your divine power, dear Lord, which allows for this remarkable display to unfold
before me.Though they may seem insignificant at first glance, their role in sustaining our world
cannot be overlooked. We are reminded that all things great and small are interconnected
within your magnificent creation. I am humbled by your infinite wisdom and creativity.

Thank you, Lord, for the importance of every creature in maintaining the balance of life. Your
wisdom created a perfect system for continuity and we are grateful for every part, even those
we may not fully understand. We thank you for giving us the wisdom to be good stewards of
our environment. Amen.

Thank you for Day and Night.
It is an utterly blissful experience to witness the splendor of sunrise or sunset, as it evokes a
profound sense of awe towards the omnipotent Creator. Have you ever pondered over how,
each day without fail, the sun rises and sets at its designated time? Regardless of your
geographical location, this celestial phenomenon manifests itself in accordance with your
respective time zone. Science may offer an explanation for our planet's rotation around the
sun; however, I am convinced that there exists a greater force behind this cosmic occurrence.
Therefore, let us take a moment today to acknowledge and appreciate the presence of both
Day and Night
Prayer
Dear Lord, we appreciate the meticulous attention to detail you have shown in creating and
maintaining the natural processes of day and night. We thank you, Lord, for your separation of
light from darkness. Your consistency in causing the sun to rise and set each day is a blessing
that we are grateful for. The sun provides us with necessary light during our daily activities,
giving warmth and illumination to our lives. We are thankful for this gift.
As evening approaches, we give thanks for the opportunity to gather together as families and
share meals after a long day's work. Nighttime gives us time to rest, reflect on our experiences
from throughout the day, and prepare ourselves mentally for what lies ahead tomorrow.
Knowing that constant sunlight would disrupt our bodies' natural rhythms, you have created
smaller lights such as stars and moon which help regulate nighttime activity while also
providing beauty in their own right.
Even on dark nights filled with storms or uncertainty, we trust that you watch over us always.
As each new morning dawns with its promise of renewal, we are reminded once again of your
power at work within all things. Father we are grateful for both daytime and nighttime. Amen

Thank you for the air we breathe
On average, a unit of canned oxygen costs nearly $50 – an expense that would amount to over
$1,160 per day if it were relied upon for constant use and more than $426,000 annually. The
inquiry arises: Would we still be alive if we had to pay for our daily supply of oxygen?
In emergency situations, the initial question posed is often; “Is the person breathing?” This
query also serves as a primary point of interest when discussing newborns and those in their
final moments. What makes breathing so crucial? What essential components are found within
each breath?
Our bodies require energy to perform all activities such as muscle contractions and maintaining
resting potential in neurons. However, this energy must be obtained through effort. Oxygen is
necessary for us to produce this energy which is acquired from the air we inhale.
Oxygen, a precious element essential to our survival, is produced as a byproduct of
photosynthesis in plants. Research has shown that marine plants and plant-like animals are
responsible for supplying 50-80% of the earth's oxygen. Thus, the preservation and protection
of vegetation and aquatic life are crucial for our existence. Remarkably, we work symbiotically
with plants; exhaling carbon dioxide which they use to generate their own energy. This
interdependence highlights God's intelligence and excellence in creating everything with a
greater purpose for survival.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am grateful to you, Lord, for the gracious gift of oxygen that sustains my life.
Even if I were able to afford an exorbitant sum of $1160 per day and $426000 annually, it would
not guarantee my survival. However, today I express my gratitude for the health and vitality of
my body and lungs, as well as the bountiful supply of oxygen in our atmosphere that is available
ceaselessly both day and night. The process of respiration also produces energy within me

which I acknowledge with thanks. It is truly remarkable how these intricate processes work
together seamlessly to support my existence without any effort on my part - a testament to
your divine design. Therefore, I thank you once again for this precious air that fills every breath
I take. Amen.

Five
Thank you for the water
Water is an essential element of life. Indeed, all forms of life are dependent on water to survive
and thrive. Without it, living beings would struggle to exist in a world that was void of this
precious resource. For those who reside in regions where water is scarce, the challenges can be
overwhelming and almost unbearable.
In Genesis 1:9-10, we read about how God created the earth's waters and land masses. He
spoke into existence the gathering together of all the waters under the sky so that dry ground
could appear. This incredible act resulted in what we now know as our planet's landmasses and
seas - two distinct yet interconnected features that work together seamlessly to support life on
Earth.
It is no wonder then that throughout history, people have revered water as a symbol of purity,
renewal, and vitality. From ancient religious ceremonies to modern-day scientific research,
humanity has always recognized the vital importance of water for sustaining our physical health
and well-being.
So let us take a moment today to appreciate this wonderful gift from nature – which sustains us
physically but also provides inspiration for spiritual reflection – while also recognizing its
fragility as a finite resource deserving protection for generations yet unborn!

Dear Lord, we want to express our gratitude for the precious gift of water that you have
bestowed upon us. We are thankful for all the sources of water that provide a continuous
supply and sustain life on this earth. Your generosity in freely providing us with this essential
element is truly remarkable, and we cannot thank you enough.

We appreciate how water quenches our physical thirst and enables us to clean and refresh
ourselves daily through bathing. Moreover, we acknowledge that every food item we consume
owes its growth to the availability of water. Thank you for nourishing us in so many ways.
We also take pleasure in admiring the beauty surrounding these bodies of water, which brings
joy and recreation into our lives. Finally, dear God, thank you for blessing us with rain - it's a
reminder of your constant care for us. Amen.

Six
Thank you for the Land
Our divine Creator spoke the land into existence and set it aside for us to dwell upon. He
commanded that the waters be gathered in one place, allowing dry ground to emerge. This
newly formed land was named ‘land’ by God, while the collection of waters were deemed
‘seas.’
Our benevolent Maker then called forth vegetation from this earth, including seed-bearing
plants and fruit trees of all kinds. Lastly, God brought forth living creatures according to their
respective species: livestock, animals that roam on four legs, and wild beasts - each created
with a unique purpose in mind. All these things came into being at our Creator's command as
recorded in Genesis 1:9-11 and 24
Prayer
Dear Lord, we are grateful for the dry land that you created on earth and gave to us as our
home. We thank you for all the vegetation that grows on this land and provides us with
everything we need to survive. Your creation has allowed us to till the soil and produce an
abundant harvest since time immemorial.
We appreciate how you have provided enough land for all your creatures, including human
beings, animals and plants. We also thank you for creating a variety of animals that occupy this
beautiful space.
Every creature plays a unique role in fulfilling its purpose on land- something we acknowledge
with gratitude. The food supply from both vegetation and living creatures is truly remarkable; it
sustains us in ways beyond measure.
Above all else, we are grateful for the responsibility you have entrusted upon us: dominion over
your earthly creation. It's a privilege to care of your world and environment as good stewards.

Thank you for creating Me
What amazes me most about the creation of humanity is that God had a special conversation to
determine how best to create us. The conclusion was reached that we should be created in a
unique way, setting us apart from all other creations. This makes each and every one of us
special, and I'm grateful for this thoughtful consideration which resulted in my existence.
According to Genesis 1:26-27, God said "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness."
This revelation surprised me because I used to only focus on being created in God's image. But
being created in His likeness means that whatever God is like, I am like too! How amazing is
that?!
After fashioning mankind, it was not sufficient to simply release them and relinquish control of
the world. Rather, God bestowed His blessing upon humanity with the words "Be fruitful and
multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it..." (Genesis 1:28). Today I am filled with
gratitude as I assume my rightful position in understanding who I truly am based on how I was
created and your original intentions and purpose for bringing me into existence.

Thank you for every system that regulates life in me.
Every morning, we express gratitude to God for the gift of life. But what does it truly mean to
be alive? Through His divine intellect, God designed intricate systems within us that enable our
bodies to maintain homeostasis effortlessly. This self-regulating process allows living organisms
to stabilize their internal environments while adapting to external changes. We are blessed that
our bodies can sustain themselves without conscious effort on our part, thanks to God's
remarkable design. Today and every day, we offer thanks for each of these miraculous systems.
Prayer
Thank you for my circulatory system that maintains blood flow and distributes oxygen
and nutrients throughout my body while carrying away byproducts of metabolism.
Thank you for my lymphatic system which is key for my immunity, blood pressure
regulation, digestion, and other functions.
I'm grateful to wake up daily breathing, with controlled movement of air in and out of
my body (ventilation) and the movement of oxygen and carbon dioxide into and out of
the bloodstream (respiration).
Thank you for my beautiful skin which functions include protection, thermal regulation,
and sensation.
Thank you for my endocrine system which regulates metabolism and utilizes the
products of digestion.
Thank you for my digestive system which breaks down the food I eat and provides my
body with the nutrients it needs while eliminating anything it doesn't need.
Thank you for my urinary/excretory system which filters blood and removes toxins and
waste from my body tissues.
I'm grateful for my musculoskeletal system which provides the framework and the
engine for my movement, posture, and productivity.

Thank you for my nervous system which handles communication in the body, receiving
information about the environment around me (sensory functions, sensation) and
generating responses to that information (motor functions, responses) and coordinating
the two (integration).
Thank you for my immune system which protects my body from infections by identifying
and destroying harmful microorganisms.
Thank you for my reproductive system which enables us to procreate and fill the earth
with humankind.
Each of these systems work together in a way that I can never begin to explain and they
automatically regulate and maintain life for this miracle. I'm grateful, Lord. Amen.

Thank you for my Mind
The distinguishing factor between human beings and animals is the potent mind bestowed
upon us by God. The mind serves as the origin of all things that subsequently materialize in our
lives. It functions akin to a womb, where great thoughts, ideas, dreams, and visions are
conceived, nurtured into maturity before being actualized into reality. Both virtuous and wicked
thoughts, positive and negative ones alike reside within this mental space. Hence you possess
unfettered authority over your thought processes as well as decision-making capabilities. The
mind encompasses an array of cognitive aspects alongside non-cognitive functions - thus today
we express gratitude for this wondrous endowment.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am grateful for both my conscious and subconscious mind. Thank you for
instilling in me a positive mindset.
I appreciate having an open-minded approach to life. My wild imagination allows me to dream
big, which I am truly thankful for. Thank you for bestowing upon me God-inspired and given

Ten
Thank you for all inventions and innovations
The creative power of the mind and imagination have led to countless inventions, both big and
small, which have continuously improved over time. Today, we are grateful for how these
innovations have made our lives significantly easier. As a young girl, I vividly recall trekking two
kilometers to the nearest borehole with a wheelbarrow and four 20-liter containers to fetch
water. On weekends, we would use a cattle-drawn scotch cart with large drums and any other
available container to save us from daily trips to the borehole.
However, in that same house where I grew up, they no longer do this; rather they simply open
a tap and voila! Water is readily available. I cannot help but envy them as I used to dislike those
borehole journeys particularly if I had to carry a 20-liter bucket on my head. I distinctly
remember studying by candle or paraffin light back then... Nonetheless, such experiences have
built strength and resilience within me and have made me more appreciative.
We therefore extend gratitude for every successful idea that has contributed towards making
our world an even better place.

We express our gratitude to You, Lord, for every successful idea that has contributed to the
betterment of this place. We thank You for facilitating our acquisition of knowledge and making
it effortless. Our appreciation also extends to all modes of transportation that have made travel

unique architectural wonders they produced. We thank You too for electricity and other forms
of energy essential in modern society.
Finally, we are grateful for nourishing food provided by Your grace along with access to Your
Word through various formats like hard copies, soft copies or audio recordings available in

We are a diligent people, driven each day to pursue our aspirations and objectives. We are
fortunate to possess diverse means of earning a livelihood, as our existence is reliant upon the
acquisition of financial resources. Our services, knowledge, expertise, skills and talents are
traded for recompense - some through employment while others by running their own
businesses - with the ultimate aim of procuring earthly material necessities such as shelter,
sustenance, clothing, education and transportation. Let us not forget the importance of
supporting God's Kingdom through various churches.
Apostle Paul aptly stated in his epistle to the Thessalonians that, “For even when we were with
you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.” 2 Thessalonians
3:10. Therefore we ought to engage in work in order to survive. God has bestowed upon us an
abundance of opportunities for generating income and imbued within us the ability to work
with wisdom and fortitude. Today we give thanks unto Him for establishing the fruits of our
labors and granting us the capacity to amass wealth.

Gracious Lord, I offer my gratitude for endowing me with a brilliant mind and inspiring dreams
and ideas. I am thankful for the talents and abilities you have bestowed upon me, enabling me
to excel in various endeavors. My heart is filled with appreciation for the means of livelihood

Thank you for time to rest.
We reside in a bustling world, one filled with various activities that keep us occupied from dawn
to dusk. Our schedules are jam-packed, and we always have something on our to-do lists. For
some individuals, this frenetic pace can be so overwhelming that they seldom get the chance to
take a break and unwind. However, our benevolent Father - who is all-knowing and all-loving -
knew that rest was vital for mankind's well-being. This is why He created day and night: to allow
us time for work during the day and rest during the night.
Even those who work at night still get ample opportunity to recharge their batteries during
daylight hours because our bodies were designed in such a way that requires regular
rejuvenation after a hard day's work.
Furthermore, we are blessed with weekly opportunities for respite as God Himself worked six
days before resting on the seventh day. Depending on religious affiliation, some people choose
Saturday or Sunday as their designated day of rest; it provides an excellent opportunity to
unwind and ready ourselves mentally for upcoming tasks while offering praise within His
sanctuary through songful thanksgiving.
Additionally, we enjoy other opportunities throughout the year such as annual leave days or
public holidays like Christmas when we can spend quality time with loved ones away from
work-related obligations. Each of these occasions presents another chance for us to relax fully
and recharge our batteries entirely – something every busy person should prioritize.
In Mark 6, we encounter a narrative of the disciples who had just finished preaching and
healing people in different areas. They were exhausted from their hard work. Our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ acknowledged that they had done an exceptional job but also recognized
that they needed rest. He graciously invited His disciples to join Him for some much-needed
rest; He encouraged them to come with Him and recharge. Therefore, as we seek rest, let's
follow Jesus' example by taking time off with Him because genuine rejuvenation comes from

being in His presence. Every day, He extends an invitation to us saying, "Come to Me, all you
who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

We are grateful for the moments of peace that allow us to Rest, Rejoice, Rejuvenate and
Reconnect with You. Thank you, Lord, for the night time where we can rest our bodies and
wake up feeling refreshed each morning. We also honor you for the day of rest - it's an
opportunity to commune with You fully and offer our thanks and worship wholeheartedly. As
Your children, we appreciate being able to come together in fellowship and to praise Your
name. We're especially thankful for the inspiring words shared on this day that bring us closer

Every human being is entrusted with a distinct and exceptional gift or gifts. These gifts are
bestowed upon us by God so that we may be of service to others. Our talents empower us to
assist and support those around us. As stated in 1 Peter 4:10, “As each has received a gift, use it
to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.” It is crucial to recognize the
unique abilities we possess. The impact of our gifts on one person or millions does not matter;
what matters most is our willingness to utilize them when opportunities arise. The purpose
behind having these special talents is for us to share them with others instead of hoarding them
for ourselves. As we ponder over our skills and aptitudes, let's take some time for self-
reflection. Ask yourself: Am I using my gift(s) effectively?
Am I bringing honor and glory to my Creator through their use?

Dear God, thank you for bestowing upon me these unique gifts. I am grateful for the
opportunity to serve others with them and for the doors that will open because of them. Your

Thank you for renewing my strength
There are occasions when I return home from work feeling utterly depleted, yearning for a
refreshing shower and the comfort of my bed. At times like these, I find myself pondering how I
will muster the energy to face another day at work. Yet, much to my amazement, as dawn
breaks each morning, a sense of vitality permeates me. My zeal for life returns in full force and I
feel invigorated and prepared for all that lies ahead!
Therefore, today we express our gratitude to the Almighty for renewing our vigor every
morning in accordance with His promise through Prophet Isaiah: "But they who wait upon the
LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and
not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31).

Dear Lord, I am grateful for the strength you have given me to run my race. Thank you for
empowering me with courage and endurance when I feel like giving up.
During my tea break or lunchtime, I appreciate being able to nourish my body while taking a

Thank you for daily bread
In Matthew 6:11, Jesus taught us to pray to our Father and ask for "our daily bread." This isn't
just about asking for physical sustenance; it's also a powerful symbol of God's provision for His
people throughout history. Think back to the Israelites wandering in the wilderness, sustained
by manna falling from heaven each day. Even now, bread remains a symbol of the most basic
necessities of life - hence why we still use phrases like, ‘bread winner’.
Our Father invites us to come to Him with our needs and ask Him for what we require each day.
He is always faithful in providing for us, no matter how big or small our needs may be. So let's
take comfort in knowing that He will never fail to provide for us and those we care about most!
Prayer
Father, thank you for consistently providing for me and my family without fail. I am grateful
that you have supplied all my needs according to your abundant riches in glory through Christ
Jesus. I appreciate the opportunities you have provided me with to support my family
financially. I am thankful for my job, business, or any other means of earning income that
enables us to put food on the table. Thanks to your blessings, I can proudly say that I am a
capable and reliable provider for my loved ones. We are blessed by the delicious meals we are
able to enjoy each day.
Your provision extends beyond food; thank you also for providing good quality clothing and
footwear. Our home is indeed our sanctuary - thank you for always ensuring we have a safe
place to call home. We appreciate every piece of furniture in our house which provides comfort
and convenience. Thank you Lord not only for water but also soap, lotion and everything else
necessary to maintain personal hygiene.

who become integral parts of our extended family. Today we express gratitude to God for
blessing us with such wonderful loved ones in our lives.
Psalm 133:1 captures the essence of familial unity: "Behold how good and how pleasant it is
when brothers dwell together in harmony!"

Lord we welcome your presence into our home; it is an honor to serve You! I am grateful for my
loving parents who have always supported me. I also thank you for my wonderful siblings,

God intentionally and strategically places individuals in our lives to assist us, pave the way for
us, and propel us towards our destiny. These people may not necessarily be relatives or friends;
however, upon introspection, we will identify certain individuals who have played a significant
role in shaping our lives and getting us where we are today. Some of these divine connections
may only cross our paths for a brief moment while others remain with us for a lifetime.
Regardless of their duration in our lives, every person is present for a reason that requires
wisdom to recognize and embrace the opportunity they bring.
It has come to my realization that if God were to personally reveal Himself to us, it would be
impossible for any human being to withstand His presence. Thus He works through other
people like you and me every day by using them as vessels of guidance and assistance.
Sometimes favor comes from unexpected sources which we later realize was orchestrated by
God working through these individuals. Therefore let's express gratitude towards Him for each
divine connection that crosses our path.

Thank you for pain.
Why should we express gratitude to God for pain? It may seem illogical as nobody desires or
relishes pain. Nevertheless, life is replete with diverse seasons, some of which entail painful
experiences. I have come to realize that it is during these agonizing moments that we undergo a
process of refinement and sanctification. Our most compelling testimonies typically arise from
the most challenging periods in our lives.
Jesus Christ bore excruciating agony as He was nailed to the cross; His suffering brought
redemption to humanity. Through His torturous death, we are saved and welcomed into the
Kingdom of God. Indeed, His pain resulted in our gain! The disciples experienced various forms
of affliction while sharing the gospel message across different regions worldwide; their
persistence enabled them to spread the Word effectively.
Similarly, Apostle Paul encountered severe oppositions and difficulties during his missionary
work but persevered through faith in Christ's power within him. Let us then be grateful for
every painful experience we have gone through for they have produced perseverance,
character and hope within us.
Prayer
Thank you for using my painful experiences to mould and develop me, building character and
perseverance. Your presence, hope, faith, and peace sustained me through the storms. I am
grateful for those who helped me in my pain, and for your healing hand that restored my
strength and brought victory. My growth through these trials has given me powerful

undeserved favor of our Creator.
Time and time again, we find ourselves rescued from despair by God's mercy. Without His
grace, existence itself would be impossible. We owe immense gratitude to our Lord for this
divine influence, which has the power to regenerate, sanctify and inspire virtuous impulses
within each of us.
It is important to remember that God's grace is not limited by any boundaries or restrictions; it
extends infinitely in all directions. No matter what challenges or hardships we may encounter in
life, His grace remains constant and available to all who seek it out. Let us never forget the

As devout Christians, we joyously celebrate Christmas as the commemoration of the birth of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He willingly took on human form to redeem us from our sins.
Tonight, we pause to express gratitude towards God for Mary's exceptional act of accepting this
immense responsibility bestowed upon her by becoming the mother of God's son.
It was truly unprecedented that a virgin would conceive without any physical relations with a
man; furthermore, Mary was already betrothed to Joseph at the time. The societal implications
were daunting - how would she explain it to her future husband or family? However, in spite of
all these uncertainties and potential repercussions, Mary courageously accepted this divine
calling without hesitation.
Mary exhibited remarkable obedience and selflessness by putting aside her own plans and
allowing herself to be used as an instrument for God's will. Her unwavering faith serves as an
exemplary model for all believers who desire to be vessels available for God's use.
In Luke 1 it is written; "In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel
to Nazareth which is located in Galilee where he appeared before a virgin named Mary who had
been pledged in marriage to Joseph – a descendant from David’s line. Greeting her with utmost
reverence, Gabriel proclaimed “Greetings! You are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary
was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the
angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive
and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son
of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign
over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel

Each year, as we celebrate Christmas, it is crucial to remember that the most precious gift of
this joyous occasion is Jesus Christ Himself. He willingly left the glory of heaven and took on
human form through his birth by the virgin Mary. Christmas transcends mere materialistic
indulgences such as extravagant spending, decorations or family gatherings over sumptuous
meals.
Christmas goes beyond receiving gifts, wearing new clothes and taking time off work or school.
Rather, it provides us with an opportunity to introspect our hearts and assess if we are still
walking in alignment with God's will. This season affords us another chance to open up our
hearts and welcome our Saviour into every aspect of our lives so that He may live within us.
As we busy ourselves with preparations for Christmas in our homes, let us not forget to prepare
our hearts for the Lord too. We must express gratitude towards Heavenly Father for gifting
humanity salvation through His Son's sacrifice. Today presents a perfect moment to renew your
commitment to God by inviting Christ into your heart fully so that He can take charge of your
life.
The advent of Christ marked the pinnacle of God's love for all mankind - John 3:16 captures this
sentiment aptly "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

consequences. Sin places us in a perilous situation; we are transgressors who require a
redeemer. As Christians, our deliverance was granted through Jesus Christ when He offered
Himself as the sacrificial lamb and died on the cross. Jesus Christ came to ensure that all those
who believe in Him and abide by His teachings shall inherit eternal life.
I am grateful to acknowledge that, "I rely on the blood of Jesus Christ shed as my substitute,
discharging my moral obligation, fulfilling Your holy and righteous demands, and eradicating
Your wrath against sin!"- Mark Dever.

The fall of man through sin resulted in the loss of certain privileges bestowed upon humanity by
God during creation. However, through the redemptive sacrifice of His Son, communion
between the Creator and His creation was restored. Jesus Christ bridged the gap that separated
mankind from God and reinstated our position as sons and daughters of the Most High. As
stated in John 1:12- "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right
to become children of God.” Moreover, Galatians 4:7 confirms that "Therefore you are no longer
a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God."
We give thanks to our Father for His agape love which has renewed our identity as Children of
God. In Him we have been made kings and priests.

Thank you, Father, for your boundless love towards me. Your grace has made me a new
creation in Christ Jesus who now resides within my heart. I am grateful that through Him, you
have restored my identity as your beloved child and set me free from the shackles of sin and
death.

we should interact with one another and with God.
The Word helps us discern between right and wrong while imparting wisdom and
understanding upon those who study it. Moreover, the Word provides encouragement during
difficult times by illuminating our minds and guiding our paths as emphasized in Psalms 119:105
which states; "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Most significantly, the
Word reveals our Father's characteristics, desires, will, love as well as promises bestowed upon
us - His children.
Today we express gratitude towards the Lord God for providing us with such an invaluable
treasure of knowledge through His divine message.
Prayer
Thank you for the life-giving essence of your word. We express gratitude for the guidance
provided through your teachings. Thank you for using your word as a means of correction and
improvement in our lives.
We appreciate how your Word equips us to navigate various seasons of life with ease. The
assurance and victory that come from embracing your Word is truly priceless, thank you. Thank
you Lord for providing us with a shield and weapon when battling against our enemies through

The Almighty created humankind and blessed us with the gift of fertility and abundance. His
benevolent grace extends to both you and me, for He is a Provident Parent who provides for
our every need and sustains all living beings through His divine Providence. Philippians 4:19-20
elucidates this doctrine by stating, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches
of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen."
Although the Lord knows what we require, He invites us to make requests of Him as His beloved
children, as expressed in 1 John 5:14-15: "And this is the confidence that we have toward him,
that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in
whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him." We worship
a compassionate God who listens attentively when called upon; indeed, He is a loving Father
who answers prayers with great care.

Dear Father, we are grateful that prayer provides a communication channel between us, Your
children. Thank You, LORD, for hearing our voices and pleas for mercy. We appreciate Your
forgiveness of our sins and the restoration of our relationship with You as our Father.
With each prayer comes peace from You, Lord, which we cherish dearly. We acknowledge Your
healing power through prayers and thank You for saying ‘Yes’ to some of them. For those

by His Spirit, grace, and unwavering commitment to fulfill every promise He has made to us. As
He declared, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
Though some may dismiss this as mere religious rhetoric, a moment of self-reflection will reveal
how God has orchestrated and aligned events in our lives for our benefit. There have
undoubtedly been instances where we can confidently say: ‘That was God!’ Therefore let us
offer gratitude for all that He has done and all that He will do; after all, He is a way maker, a
miracle worker, and an unbreakable covenant keeper. Truly His promises are confirmed with an

Optimistic proponents always stress the importance of envisioning your future. When
establishing objectives, you are urged to visualize the end outcome first in your mind's eye and
then set goals on how to reach it. When you shut your eyes and imagine the future that you
desire, what do you see?
Where do you see yourself in five years, ten years, or after retirement? Although today may not
be what you aspire for, remember that you have the power to alter tomorrow. While one could
argue that no one knows their future, your attitude, convictions, faith and deeds will determine
it.
As we look ahead positively towards a bright future our hope and faith should be fortified by
God's intention for us to have a prosperous destiny. "For I know the plans I have for you,”
declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future." Jeremiah 29:11. It is inspiring knowing that God has good intentions for us! You might
be experiencing a difficult season but rest assured because even though 'you walk through the
valley of death’s shadow,' God is with you. He will prepare a feast before you even in front of
our adversaries; he will make your cup overflow.' Psalm 23. The abundant life filled with peace
love and joy awaits as part of God's plan for each individual's life. Thank You Lord.
