Bob received a bachelor of arts in chemistry from Middlebury College and then studied medicine at the University Of Rome, Italy, graduating with honors in 1985. Bob did his internship and residency in anatomic pathology at Presbyterian Hospital in New York. In addition to his medical training, Bob did a three year fellowship in Medical Informatics at the Center for Medical Informatics at Columbia University in New York, joining the faculty as an assistant professor upon his completion.
