2. 1. Tribute question
Colin Rowe, creative director of Stick Sports said,
“We felt that the landscape had changed. It was
there for comedic value, and when we first made
Stick Cricket, no one had ever died from a head
blow in professional cricket, so we felt justified to
add it.”
“It’s sobering now and no longer funny, so we had a
team meeting the day Phillip Hughes died and put
plans to change the game with the very next
update.”
What used to happen before this incident?

Perhaps the most unusual form of winning a cricket
match, Kuwait beat Maldives in a group match of
the 2014 Asian Games by this method.
Some examples of this form of victory in Indian
domestic cricket have been the North vs East Zone
clash in the Duleep Trophy of 2013, and a Plate
semi-final in 2005 between Services and Himachal
Pradesh.
What form of victory?
10. 5.
This famous cricketer has played 384 ODIs for his
country and has scored 7500+ runs.
These include 6 centuries and 36 half-centuries,
along with various memorable performances.
His kamikaze style of plays has resulted in quite a
funny result. He has played so many ODIs, and
scored so many runs, but he has never played 100
or more balls in an innings, even for his 6
centuries. He played 94 balls for his highest score
of 124.
Identify him.

The 2002 NatWest Series final is a truly memorable
match for Indian fans.
The image of Sourav Ganguly celebrating is
unforgettable as India chased down 325, after
being 146/5, with youngsters Yuvraj Singh and
Mohammad Kaif bringing India home after the
top order failed, and the latter picking up the Man
of the Match award.
My question is, who won the Man of the Series in
that tournament? He also scored a century in the
final.
18. 9.
There are only three cricketers who have scored
a century and taken a 10-wicket haul in the
same test match.

It is safe to say that X is Y’s bunny. X has been
dismissed by Y for a record 15 times, including
10 times in 2013, across all formats.

During the last day of the third India-Australia match
in the most recent series, when Ravindra
Jadeja came in to bowl, M S Dhoni was heard
advising him, “______ _____ waali ball daal”.
Commentator Sunil Gavaskar got the hint and
explained that the reference was to the popular
serial and that the India captain was probably
asking Jadeja to bowl a delivery that spins the
other way.
Fill in the blanks.

The 2005 Ashes is one of the most thrilling Test Series of all time and the 2nd match in the
series is one of the greatest matches of all time.
Australia needed 282 in the 4th innings and the openers were looking steady before X
came and bowled the over of the series. He dismissed Langer and Ponting and
consequently Australia had been reduced from 47/0 to 48/2. Blows were exchanged
and at a point, England now needed two wickets on the fourth day, while Australia
needed 107 runs for the victory.
Warne and Lee added 45 for the ninth wicket, before Warne trod on his own stumps after
a full X ball and was out hit wicket. Y came in and supported Lee well, fending off
aggressive bowling from X and Harmison, and Simon Jones dropped Y with 15 left to
get. With Australia edging towards victory, preferring singles to risky boundaries,
England were now bowling aggressive short balls at the tail-enders, hoping for short
catches or to surprise the batsmen with a yorker.
With four runs needed to win, Lee drove Harmison's attempted yorker towards the
boundary where it was fielded. The Australians crossed for a single, leaving three runs
to win with the weaker batsman Y on strike. Harmison delivered another short ball,
which Y fended and Jones took an athletic catch down the leg side. England appealed,
and Y was given out caught by Bowden. However subsequent replays suggested that
the ball contacted Y's glove while not in contact with the bat handle, rendering
Bowden's decision technically incorrect.
England were nonetheless declared victors – if in almost the most narrow way possible –
and the series was thus tied with three matches left.
Identify X and Y.

This stadium has seen only one Test match played,
which was in 1990 and 5 ODIs, which includes one
game between Australia and New Zealand in the
1987 World Cup.
The last international game played here was an India
vs Australia ODI in 2007.
A famous stadium, situated 10 km away from the
first one, was built in 1993, and since then this
stadium has been out of use, until the ODI in
2007.
Which stadium/city am I talking about?

X’s sister, Ann Grant captained her country’s hockey
team to the gold medal in the 1980 Summer
Olympics in Moscow.
X himself captained his country in the 1983 World
Cup, and looked all set for victory versus India,
after reducing them to 17/5.
But it was in that game, that Y decided to play the
innings of his life. He completed his century in 72
balls and ended up 175 n.o., hitting 16 fours and 6
sixes, and helped India reach 266/8 and win the
match by 31 runs.
Identify X and Y.
38. 16.
He made his test debut vs Pakistan in 1989, which
also happened to be Sachin Tendulkar’s test
debut. Sadly, that remains his only cricketing claim
to fame.
He is better known for his on-screen performances
in films and TV shows. He made his debut in 2000
in the film Kurukshetra, and has featured in
popular shows like ‘Ssshhhh...Koi Hai’ and ‘C.I.D.
Special Bureau’ and also was a contestant in the
first season of Bigg Boss.

Robert Muldoon, the New Zealand prime minister,
said it was "the most disgusting incident I can recall
in the history of cricket", adding "it was an act of
true cowardice and I consider it appropriate that
the Australian team were wearing yellow".
Even his Australian counterpart, Malcolm Fraser, said
it was "contrary to the traditions of the game".
Keith Miller ,former Australian all-rounder went on to
say, "Yesterday one-day cricket died, and Greg
Chappell should be buried with it.“
What had just happened? (The year is 1981)

X represented Sri Lanka in international cricket between 1979
and 1988, making his debut in the 1979 ICC Trophy final
against Canada.
He had the honor of being in the first Sri Lankan Test team in
1982, and top-scored in the first innings with 65.
He represented Sri Lanka in 21 test matches and 63 One Day
Internationals and also captained Sri Lankan cricket team in
two test matches and 13 ODIs.
His claim to fame, however is from his second cricketing stint.
He became a match referee in 1993, and since then has
refereed 77 Test matches and 169 ODIs, and thus he has
officiated in many more international matches than he has
played.
Identify him.

He has been widely acknowledged as the greatest fast bowler of his
generation and, according to his Wisden obituary, was "one of the
rare fast bowlers in the game's long history to spread terror in
opposition ranks by the mere mention of his name".
Timing technology was primitive in his day, but various tests indicated
speeds of between 90 and 100 mph (140 to 160 km/ph).
He did from time to time inflict serious injuries on his opponents: Reg
Sinfield of Gloucestershire, Patsy Hendren of Middlesex, and H.B.
Cameron of South Africa were all carried unconscious from the field
after being hit by high-speed deliveries. Many others suffered
discomfort in the form of bruises and minor fractures.
He is immortalized in cricketing history for his role in probably in the
most controversial test series of all time.
Name this fast bowler.

Mario Zagallo (1958/1962 and 1970) and Franz
Beckenbauer (1974 and 1990) are the only two
people to achieve this particular feat in
football.
There is only one cricket equivalent to them,
who achieved this feat in 1987 and 1999.
Identify him.
63. 28.
The fruitfly was one of rather a lot of names applied
to the big, brash Australian X - this one apparently
arose from the fact that the fruitfly is Australia's
most annoying pest, and X was a close second
when in full sledging mode.
Especially early in his career, he was seen as a bit of
a novelty act - but he eventually showed he was
much more than that, finishing up with 212 Test
wickets and more than 1000 runs, not bad for
someone who, after three matches, hadn't
actually scored a run at all.
Identify X.
