GROW for Evaluating a Proposed Strategy
The key purpose of analysing the context for the project is to get all relevant information to help you
agree an appropriate strategy for protecting those interests.
Overview
The GROW template starts to develop a strategy for the next steps of the project. It is a template used
extensively within the coaching industry for problem solving and goal setting.
It can also be quick way of reviewing the current status of the project (R for reality) and deciding the
next steps for your client and her teams (W for way forward).
It overlaps with the SWOT and PESTLE analysis tools.
Objectives
BUILD is a process developed by Sarah Fox to place law within its client context. The objectives of
unlocking a suitable contract strategy, which are to:
 Help contract users make choices and agree suitable procedures;
 Innovate by investigating alternative angles;
 Eliminate poor practice; and
 Discard ineffective options.
