Culture is a matrix of behaviors, beliefs, practices and values that typifies a particular group of people.
The 5 most important interventions for specifically working with Hispanic Families.
During the first meeting with the family, obtain as much information about their cultural and socioeconomic background as possible.
Assess the nature of adjustment issues that need clinical attention.
Take cultural issues into consideration when discussing emotional problems or psychiatric diagnoses.
Be aware of your values and beliefs, attitudes and experiences with the Hispanic population.
Promote self-determination and decision making.
