1. “Once Upon A Time In Sahel“ addresses the
escalating issue of human trafficking and migration of
Africans to Southern Europe via the Sahara desert and
the high seas of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.

2. Story Line
Saul Diof, the main character, a fisherman from the village of
Dioula, takes on a perilous journey in order to find his twin sister‘s
husband, Aaron, who left for Europe in search of work on a fishing
boat more than a year ago and has not been heard of ever since.
Saul starts his search for Aaron, following the coordinates given to
him by the “fixer“ who organized Aaron‘s trip, Saul is on his way to
Hotel Sahara, transit point in the desert for human traffickers, drug
mules, smugglers and travelers. At Hotel Sahara he meets a
notorious desert gang called the Diplomatic Corp, who control the
coastal Kankilo, the departure point for Europe. In that point, the
troubles between bands were started, and the life of Saul and the rest
of travellers were in danger...
