Flipkart recently received a funding of $1 billion, making them the highest indian startup funding ever.
To answer that, Amazon immediately announced $2 billion funds on their Amazon India venture. This
fight is not just on the numbers, but they each want a big piece of the Indian e-commerce pie. Amazon
has a lot of catching up to do and their efforts need to be substantial as they do not have retail license
which restricts them to create a warehouse and selling their own products.
Amazon India relies on their tie ups with local retailers, which reduces the profit and creates a danger
of customer dissatisfaction. We see Flipkart Coupons and Flipkart Deals because they have their
own retailer as WS Retail with huge warehouse. Amazon also comes up with great deals and offers but
that does not match the number of products Flipkart has offers on.
Amazon coupons and deals are interesting with they are still not able to nail the indian shopping
experience. They really need to boost their presence in India and the $2 billion funds will come in
handy. This should create a good war (cold war) between these mammoths and the customers will be
the beneficiary.
Neither of the websites can increase the prices to increase the profits, nor they can reduce the customer
experience and service. The customer gets best of both worlds, great prices and even better service.

Amazon with their huge funds and experience in US markets are trying to catch up. Other websites like
Snapdeal, Infibeam, Myntra and Jabong are trying their best to churn out enough revenue to keep them
afloat. Myntra have known to be the mammoth in online shopping of clothing and accessories, both
Men’s accessories Deals and clothing. With Flipkart buying Myntra, the other websites have a long
long way to go.
It will be interesting to see how things turnout over the years, where does Flipkart and Amazon’s cold
war. Them reshaping the indian e-commerce with each step taken, billions of products, millions of
deals and lakhs of satisfied customers.
