1. Help Them Shine
HOW DAVIS REGAINED THE CONFIDENCE
www.helpthemshine.com
The life of an Autism child is not easy, that’s what I happened to believe when Alex was
2 years old and I and Davis, his father realized when he was growing in an erratic way.
It was pretty hard to figure out that reaching at the age of 3, Alex was not able to crawl
like other toddlers nor we were able to identify the cause behind his slow development
in verbal communication.
Davis started to live in a pensive mode, with very less interaction with me. One fine
evening while I was away to a local hyperstore to buy some grocery stuff, alongside the
aisle, there was a lady asking for the
adaptive equipments for Autism children
it took me a while to understand the
jargon, a while after got to know Autism is
the ADS disorder. I preferred to speak to
her pertaining to this disorder that kept me
bothering time and again. I thought she
might come to my rescue to figure out the
difficulty Alex has been experiencing. She
started narrating her story that revolves
around his son, Jake who was affected
with Autism when he was 3 years old, The
fact that Autism affects a child’s behavior,
communication and interaction skills
shook me at first. She continued by
explaining the symptoms of the ADS cum developmental disorder. She elucidated that
her child Jake was facing language issues and was not able to interact in his classroom
and with children of the similar age.
Well, I am thankful to Angela that came as a boon to me and for Alex. I discussed this
disorder with Davis, that shook his fatherhood and he just outbursted in tears. I tried to
console him, saying that dealing with Autism children is not all challenging. I narrated
the whole story of meeting Angela in a hyperstore, to him. The following day we bought
Alex the sensory toys that helped him to stimulate learning and development gradually.
After a strong recommendation we took the help of adaptive equipments since we din’t
want to take any chance with Alex’s life. Now, we feel like proud parents of a ever
2. smiling master Alex who love to socialize with friends and her teacher and believe
learning is a pure fun. This is how we debunked the myth that- ‘’Life of an Autism child
is not easy’’.
