  • 1. 1.3 Class Activity 1M-Finding Decimals Between Decimals1. Work with a partner and take turns giving yourpartner a pair of decimals and challenginghim/her to find a decimal in between your pair.  Start with 1.2 & 1.4  Goal: to stump your partner! * There aren’t any whole numbers between 2 and 3, but there are plenty of decimals between 2 and 3. If you are given two decimals, will there always be another decimals between the two? Are there some decimals that don’t have any other decimals in between them?
  • 2. 1.3 Class Activity 1L: Finding Smaller and Smaller Decimals Work with a partner and take turns listing decimals, each of which is greater than 2 but less than the previous decimals that was listed.  Ex: 2.3 – 2.2 - 2.1 and so forth.  Goal: to find a decimal such that your partner won’t be able to find a decimal that is smaller than yours but greater than 2.  Each person should list at least six decimals. * The number 3 is the smallest whole number that is greater than 2. But is there a smallest decimal that is greater than 2? If so what is it? If not, why not?
