3. Annual Report 2013 RIPE NCC Update
• Operational Highlights (end 2013):
– Strong growth: 1,139 additional members in 2013
– 1,896 /22 IPv4 allocations and 1,724 IPv6 allocations
– IPv6 allocation take up is > 66% of membership
– 6,400 PI contractual relations processed (2007-01)
– 20% of our members have their resources certified
– Almost 5,000 active RIPE Atlas probes
– 1 Million RIPEstat users (up from 122,000 in 2012)

• Financial Overview
-Operational expenses were 3% lower than budget
-Staff numbers are steady (3% lower than budget)
-Reserves level remains at around one year’s operational
expenses
-Cost per member still falling (6% lower than 2012)

– Stable, Secure and Resilient
– Useful to our members
• RIPE Database: Improved documentation and
release processes
• Assisted Registry Check (ARC) initiated
• Replacing and improving internal systems
• Resiliency project initiated (site in Sweden)
• Corporate governance documents in check

6. Increased Risk for Hijacks RIPE NCC Update
• IPv4 addresses are becoming more valuable
• Criminals try very sophisticated methods to obtain
control over unused address blocks
- Faking registration and identity papers
- Faking entire websites and domains
!
• RIPE NCC has to do more thorough checks
- Unfortunately, it can take extra time to process requests
- Please cooperate by supplying the required documents

13. RIPE NCC General Meeting RIPE NCC Update
• GM held in Warsaw during RIPE 68 on 14 May
• 2015 Charging Scheme was adopted
- €1,600 per annum (€150 down on 2014 fee)
• Adoption of implementation process of RIPE NCC
services to Legacy Resource Holders
• RIPE NCC Executive Board elections
- three vacant seats filled by Maria Häll, Salam Yamout &
Christian Kaufmann

14. Our Regional Presence RIPE NCC Update
• The RIPE NCC Survey 2013 results indicated that
you wanted us to be more present in all regions
• We have increased the number of regional meetings
- SEE 4 in 2015 - Belgrade
- Kazakhstan and Iran 2014, Georgia 2015
• Expanding Dubai office
- Two new Arab employees hired
• We already have one staff member based in
Moscow
- Interviewing for second staff member
