1. Teaching Digital Natives What are digital natives and how do they learn? Today's students are digital natives because they have been surrounded by many forms of t from an early age. The exposure to and use of all these new technologies has affected the way that they learn.
2. Technology is your friend! Digital natives view technology as their friend, a way to enrich the activities they enjoy. Digital immigrants, who are not accustomed to using technology in these ways, may fear using new technology. This is a major difference in the way teachers and their students see this new world.
3. Use of graphics Contemporary learners are so used to being bombarded by colorful graphics on TV and video games, that they have come to see plain text as just a way to help understand the graphic, and not the other way around!
4. Looking for a payoff? Today's learners are captivated for hours at a time by video and computer games because they get constant feedback and “payoffs” for paying attention. This idea needs to be incorporated into a classroom setting somehow to hold their attention.
