1. CNP Email Submission Specs for Advertisers | June 30, 2009 | Coder
After 12 months of review and testing CNP has developed a best practices threshold to ensure maximum email
deliverability, visibility, and responsiveness. With coders in mind, we have come up with a list of technological best
practices for HTML layouts and CSS styling to ensure that coded emails adhere as closely as possible to the original
design across all clients, providers, and devices.
The Minimums and Maximums of Font and Content
Fonts must be 10px or larger in all sections; and must also be set to a whole number, 10 not 10.58. Letter
Spacing (0px by default) and Line Height (16px by default) should not be altered.
For consistency reasons copy must be in one of the following ‘Web-Safe’ fonts to guarantee proper rendering
across the email spectrum:
Arial Georgia Trebuchet MS
Verdana Times New Roman Courier New
The content area should be centered, and it’s recommended to be no more than 600px wide. However, there is
no limitation on height.
Most importantly, all designs must include a balanced text-to-image ratio. As a rule of thumb: for every image
you should have an equal or larger area of HTML-coded text.
ALL STYLING should be done using in-line CSS: style=”color: #0000FF;” Do not import a style sheet, and do not
set classes and ids in the header, these will not work upon deployment.
