Boot computer to safe mode
1. Boot computer to safe mode
What is safe mode? Well, according to Microsoft "Safe mode is a
troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a
limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run
Windows are started. The words Safe Mode appear in the corners
of your monitor to identify which Windows mode you're using."
Which is exactly right!
But why safemode? We want to boot to safemode so that only pure
Windows files are gonna be running, and no third party applications.
This is the best way for us to determine if a problem has got
something to do with a third party application or with Windows
itself. And what are these problems that I'm talking about? LOTS!
Just to cite an example, when you boot up your computer, after
around 1-2 minutes it just restarts. So, what's the cause of it? We
don't now, we can't conclusively say yet what's causing the restart
problem. So, how do we find out what's causing the problem? That's
when safe mode comes in.
So, how do we boot the computer to safe mode?
First, you need to shut down your computer, not a restart but
a shut down.
2. Boot your computer back up. But as soon as you hit on the POWER
BUTTON of your computer, you then need to keep on
tapping/pressing the F8 key.
Once you see the ADVANCED BOOT OPTIONS screen, you may
stop tapping/pressing the F8 key.
Inside the ADVANCED BOOT OPTIONS screen, there are lots of
choices. Each has their own function. But since we're talking about
SAFE MODE, we'll purely tackle safe mode only.
3. By now, you're gonna be asking, "Which safemode am I supposed
to use?". We want to use the safe mode option that lets you get on
the Internet, in this way, we can still check the net and download
fixes if we need to. So, choose the option SAFE MODE WITH
NETWORKING.
Once this option is chosen it will the windows drivers and boot the
computer up. You will know he you're on safe mode he you'll see
the word "safe mode" In the four corners of your computer screen.
And that folks is how you boot your computer to safe mode.
