 Nitrogen is lipid soluble, dissolves in tissue
 Rapid ascent while facing a shark can affect
CNS – nitrogen narcosis, euphoria,
disorientation
RS – chokes, low to high pressure,
pulmonary air embolism
Bends – painful joint movement, air
around joints
 Treatment: Rapid compression and slow decompression in
chamber
