Introduction
KMI Media Group was established in 1996 as Kerrigan Media International, Inc. by Jack
and Conni Kerrigan. Jack worked for the Chicago Tribune, the Washington Post (as
General Manager of Advertising) and as the founding Publisher of Defense News and
Space News. Conni came from the travel and hospitality industry, working for Eastern Air
Lines and corporate travel agencies in the DC area specializing in association meetings
and events.
Our Editor in Chief, Jeff McKaughan and Managing Editor, Harrison Donnelly joined the
team in 2002. At that time we had three publications. Their expertise and experience were
integral to launching the remaining 9 publications over the last 11 years. Each publication
has its own editor, along with a dedicated Online Editor for our 12 websites.
Our Art and Graphics Department is the best there is…creating interesting and eye-
catching designs that showcase the leadership interviews and technology-driven editorial.
Their combined years of experience show their creativity and dedication.
Our Circulation staff works diligently each and every business day to ensure that our
distribution is on target and there is little or no waste in delivery. They are led by a veteran
who has the knowledge and insight to make sure our distribution lists reach the decision-
makers and decision-influencers across all of the services, DoD and Congress.
Our Advertising executives consistently work at providing the advertisers (their clients)
with the right publication, the right issue, the right message…they are laser-focused on
maximizing the message and reach for each client every time.
To top it all off, our administrative support allows the team to do their jobs efficiently and
with the latest information.
We are driven to excellence by this experienced team of 32 professionals, dedicated to
delivering the highest quality defense-related publications and websites. Focusing on
key DoD and Congressional leadership tasked with funding, planning and acquisition
decisions, we provide the information key to their visions, goals, needs and challenges.

Now more than ever, the best
way to reach senior U.S. Military
Leadership with quality, focus and
cost effectiveness.

Educating the Hill staffers is vital to avoid last-minute misunderstood cuts in programs
and products.
Business development executives are experiencing more and more difficulty in
reaching senior military leadership and their clients.
Due to huge cuts, generals and colonels are not being authorized to travel to
trade shows.
Every Flag Officer and select Senior Executive Service Executives receive
every copy of every KMI Media Group magazine and custom-published
product.
As a result of the VA and GSA conference scandals and new
restrictive policies, there is a significant decline in military attendance
at trade shows that is likely to continue into 2014.
KMI Media Group has a massive footprint inside the Washington,
DC, Beltway and all commands, with 90+ similarly formatted
magazines and websites.
KMI provides a trusted and focused platform for generals and
senior DoD leaders to get their agenda across to:
• Congress
• The Pentagon
• Their Peers
• Their Commands
• Related Community
Reaching the U.S. Military
Leadership and Congress with
relevant, important, focused
product and system information is
more important than ever in 2014.

“The folks at KMI Media Group, and in
particular, the staff of Military Logistics
Forum, made me feel like a rock
star … The issue was a tremendous
opportunity to showcase [our
agency’s] global presence. While I
had the privilege of speaking on behalf
of our 26,000 men and women stationed
around the world working logistics issues
day in and day out, I don’t forget for a
moment that I’m merely the voice of their
accomplishments and contributions to our
warfighters …”
[Acting Director, DoD Agency]
“We cannot thank your team enough
for going out of your way to ensure we
received copies of the magazine at AUSA
… Your product was our best selling
item at the AUSA Annual Convention
and a great way to get our story out
to the masses … In fact we “sold out”
of our stock of MLF and passed out
close to 400 magazines … due to an ever
increasing demand we need more copies
for distribution…”
[LGUSA]
“I’m requesting more copies of the
MIT Cyber edition … The magazine
was a big hit … I don’t know how
many you can send – but the more
the merrier. In addition to the staff
needing more – I’d like to pass out
the magazine to VIPs, etc…”
[COL, USA]
“I wanted to get you some feedback
regarding your publication and my recent
requests. You started sending me
the Geospatial Intelligence Forum
magazine-100 copies and they are
literally gone in a couple of days
from our main lobby here at ADF-C…
This past week I received just one copy
of the Military Information Technology
and while it was sitting on my desk a co-
worker recognized the guy on the cover
… He took my copy but this is a good
example of a great, relevant product
and publication. If it’s not too much,
could you also send me 25 copies of
all your other pubs where I can share
and also help vector which are the
most popular here…”
[Public Affairs, USAF]
“As DISA delivers much-needed
capabilities to the warfighter, I want
people to get to know the hard-working
leaders of DISA making it all happen.
MIT’s “Who’s Who…” pull out section
with its superb graphics and content
accomplished much towards that
end. Thank you!”
[LTGUSAF]
“[The LTG] was very happy with the MIT
article. It was [Army Cyber’s] first real
venture with the media … and it was a real
pleasure to work with you.”

“We cannot thank you enough for
supporting the Army … In particular,
thanks for ensuring my team received
copies of Military Logistics Forum.
Getting our story out is vitally
important to our logistics mission.
Your product was a high-demand
item at the AUSA Annual Meeting and
Exposition and is a great way to get
our strategic messages out to diverse
audiences … thank you for making
a difference and for working to help
keep our Army Strong!”
[LTGUSA]
“I am honored to be featured in your
magazine and appreciate your efforts to
highlight education opportunities for our
service members.”
[VADM, USCG]
“I want to thank you and your terrific staff
for providing me the opportunity to include
an article on Navy Ballistic Defense in your
magazine. Your magazine provided an
ideal forum for the Navy to present
our story and further the dialogue
in this core mission area. I have
already received many phone calls
from friends and colleagues around
the world telling me how much they
enjoyed the article…”
[RADM, USN]
“I sincerely appreciated the opportunity
to share some thoughts with Military
Information Technology’s readership …
I wanted to thank and commend [you] for
tremendous professionalism and support
in publishing this article …”
[LTGUSA]
“[Our students read your publication] as
homework for learning about the G-4s
objectives. They are allowed to retain their
copies and I know a few still have theirs
from when I attended the course…”
[G-4 Training Specialist, USA]
“Thank you so much for the opportunity to
be the MAE cover feature Q&A…It was an
awesome experience…[Your editor] was
amazing…”
[Continuing Education
Supervisor, Afghanistan, USA]
“My library has asked that we
could not only increase the Special
Operations Technology Magazine to
150 copies, but start getting Ground
Combat Technology at 150 copies and
Military Information Technology at
100 copies … they’ve started getting
requests for them and suggested
we get enough to make a mass
distribution…”
[CIV, USSOCOM]
“Now that all of our DISA employees
have relocated to the new DISA
complex at Fort Meade, we have
notice that our magazine display
racks are being emptied rather
quickly. Since we have multiple
building entrances with increased
traffic, is it possible to get at least 3
boxes sent to our office per month?”

Every year at least 40% of military leadership retire, move or are promoted.
To stay on top of these changes, we constantly verify our circulation with personal phone
calls from our team of circulation specialists to ensure our lists are current and accurate.
KMI Media Group publications deliver maximum advertising ROI with no waste, laser-
focused circulation.
• Do we deliver more readers? No. We
deliver the right readers!
• Are we audited? No. There is much
better technology today to assure
readership, and we’re more than happy
to show you our list, which will tell you
much more than the numbers on an
audit statement.
• The hows and whys behind our
circulation methodology – the strategy
and the tactics: We identify exactly
who you need to reach at the highest
echelons of military/DoD – flag officers,
PEOs, etc. This is a by-product of senior
leadership’s experience and institutional
knowledge of the military. The database
is updated on a daily basis with the most
current available data from numerous
sources – including the Pentagon.
• We don’t sell, rent or buy lists. We also
don’t take someone’s word for it when
they check off a box on our subscription
request form claiming seniority and/or
purchasing authority.
• Keeping our lists as current as possible
requires monitoring and maintenance
on a daily basis. Every day we scour
DoD briefings, military newswires and
so on for the latest news on promotions,
retirements, deployments, casualties.
Every day we are on the phone…Is
General John Smith still at Fort Bragg?
If not, where did he go? Is there a
replacement who should be receiving
the publication?
• Protocol matters. Has Colonel Jane
Jones been promoted to General yet?
Yes. We’ll change the label.
• While we qualify and verify our
subscriber lists every business day
of the year, some of our competitive
publications which are audited have
as much as 25% of their circulation
qualified within TWO years. Some even
report qualifying readers within THREE
years.
So when you advertise in a KMI Media Group publication you won’t have to wonder…
”Am I really reaching my target audience in the most efficient way?”
The answer is YES.
Your Best Guarantee of
Reaching Your Target Audience

Congress, Military & Industry
We first identify the relevant military
commands for each magazine
• Then we utilize a range of resources
to compile the subscriber list
• Official DoD Tables of Organization
• Carroll’s Directories
• Military Association Directories
• Professional Journals – We comb
trade publications to identify changes
in commands and reorganization/
realignments
Web Subscription Requests – Less than
50% accepted
Personal phone calls – We are not
content to accept at face value the
information from directories or other
sources
Targeted digital newsletters through Constant Contact allow us to keep our distribution
lists up to date by verifying the continued accuracy of email contacts.
The KMI Circulation Model
This is the only system that assures saturation of target audiences.

Highly focused on the
people and programs
within each niche
• Senior Leader Q&A Interview
in every issue... great value
to Congressional staffers
and professionals in industry
business development
• KMI magazines are known by
their cover personality
• Feature stories focused on
topical issues related to that
specific niche
• We are not trying to be all
things to all people – on
the contrary, our content is
specifically relevant to well-
defined market niches
Conclusion: All of the above
reasons, plus high-quality
printing, assure an extra-long
shelf life.

KMI Media Group Websites
The business model of KMI is print
publications. However, with the
rapid changes to technology and
the plethora of digital opportunities,
we recognize the need to provide
the opportunities for our readership
to access our digital versions of the
publications online, which can be
viewed on any platform, including
mobile and tablets.
KMI has a corporate website and
each of our publications has a
unique website of their own…
all integrating together. In effect,
one website actually gives the
reader direct access to 12 other
websites…all relating to the
defense industry.
And while other publications have
gone strictly digital, or tout their
websites as the focal point with
high traffic numbers…KMI provides
something else – high conversion
rates.
We deliver the right type of
customer to the right type of
business.

  • 2. Introduction KMI Media Group was established in 1996 as Kerrigan Media International, Inc. by Jack and Conni Kerrigan. Jack worked for the Chicago Tribune, the Washington Post (as General Manager of Advertising) and as the founding Publisher of Defense News and Space News. Conni came from the travel and hospitality industry, working for Eastern Air Lines and corporate travel agencies in the DC area specializing in association meetings and events. Our Editor in Chief, Jeff McKaughan and Managing Editor, Harrison Donnelly joined the team in 2002. At that time we had three publications. Their expertise and experience were integral to launching the remaining 9 publications over the last 11 years. Each publication has its own editor, along with a dedicated Online Editor for our 12 websites. Our Art and Graphics Department is the best there is…creating interesting and eye- catching designs that showcase the leadership interviews and technology-driven editorial. Their combined years of experience show their creativity and dedication. Our Circulation staff works diligently each and every business day to ensure that our distribution is on target and there is little or no waste in delivery. They are led by a veteran who has the knowledge and insight to make sure our distribution lists reach the decision- makers and decision-influencers across all of the services, DoD and Congress. Our Advertising executives consistently work at providing the advertisers (their clients) with the right publication, the right issue, the right message…they are laser-focused on maximizing the message and reach for each client every time. To top it all off, our administrative support allows the team to do their jobs efficiently and with the latest information. We are driven to excellence by this experienced team of 32 professionals, dedicated to delivering the highest quality defense-related publications and websites. Focusing on key DoD and Congressional leadership tasked with funding, planning and acquisition decisions, we provide the information key to their visions, goals, needs and challenges. KMI Media Group 2
  • 3. Now more than ever, the best way to reach senior U.S. Military Leadership with quality, focus and cost effectiveness. KMI Media Group 3
  • 4. Educating the Hill staffers is vital to avoid last-minute misunderstood cuts in programs and products. Business development executives are experiencing more and more difficulty in reaching senior military leadership and their clients. Due to huge cuts, generals and colonels are not being authorized to travel to trade shows. Every Flag Officer and select Senior Executive Service Executives receive every copy of every KMI Media Group magazine and custom-published product. As a result of the VA and GSA conference scandals and new restrictive policies, there is a significant decline in military attendance at trade shows that is likely to continue into 2014. KMI Media Group has a massive footprint inside the Washington, DC, Beltway and all commands, with 90+ similarly formatted magazines and websites. KMI provides a trusted and focused platform for generals and senior DoD leaders to get their agenda across to: • Congress • The Pentagon • Their Peers • Their Commands • Related Community Reaching the U.S. Military Leadership and Congress with relevant, important, focused product and system information is more important than ever in 2014. KMI Media Group 4
  • 5. “The folks at KMI Media Group, and in particular, the staff of Military Logistics Forum, made me feel like a rock star … The issue was a tremendous opportunity to showcase [our agency’s] global presence. While I had the privilege of speaking on behalf of our 26,000 men and women stationed around the world working logistics issues day in and day out, I don’t forget for a moment that I’m merely the voice of their accomplishments and contributions to our warfighters …” [Acting Director, DoD Agency] “We cannot thank your team enough for going out of your way to ensure we received copies of the magazine at AUSA … Your product was our best selling item at the AUSA Annual Convention and a great way to get our story out to the masses … In fact we “sold out” of our stock of MLF and passed out close to 400 magazines … due to an ever increasing demand we need more copies for distribution…” [LGUSA] “I’m requesting more copies of the MIT Cyber edition … The magazine was a big hit … I don’t know how many you can send – but the more the merrier. In addition to the staff needing more – I’d like to pass out the magazine to VIPs, etc…” [COL, USA] “I wanted to get you some feedback regarding your publication and my recent requests. You started sending me the Geospatial Intelligence Forum magazine-100 copies and they are literally gone in a couple of days from our main lobby here at ADF-C… This past week I received just one copy of the Military Information Technology and while it was sitting on my desk a co- worker recognized the guy on the cover … He took my copy but this is a good example of a great, relevant product and publication. If it’s not too much, could you also send me 25 copies of all your other pubs where I can share and also help vector which are the most popular here…” [Public Affairs, USAF] “As DISA delivers much-needed capabilities to the warfighter, I want people to get to know the hard-working leaders of DISA making it all happen. MIT’s “Who’s Who…” pull out section with its superb graphics and content accomplished much towards that end. Thank you!” [LTGUSAF] “[The LTG] was very happy with the MIT article. It was [Army Cyber’s] first real venture with the media … and it was a real pleasure to work with you.” [Public Affairs, USA] DoD Leaders and Commands Want to Work With KMI KMI Media Group 5
  • 6. “We cannot thank you enough for supporting the Army … In particular, thanks for ensuring my team received copies of Military Logistics Forum. Getting our story out is vitally important to our logistics mission. Your product was a high-demand item at the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition and is a great way to get our strategic messages out to diverse audiences … thank you for making a difference and for working to help keep our Army Strong!” [LTGUSA] “I am honored to be featured in your magazine and appreciate your efforts to highlight education opportunities for our service members.” [VADM, USCG] “I want to thank you and your terrific staff for providing me the opportunity to include an article on Navy Ballistic Defense in your magazine. Your magazine provided an ideal forum for the Navy to present our story and further the dialogue in this core mission area. I have already received many phone calls from friends and colleagues around the world telling me how much they enjoyed the article…” [RADM, USN] “I sincerely appreciated the opportunity to share some thoughts with Military Information Technology’s readership … I wanted to thank and commend [you] for tremendous professionalism and support in publishing this article …” [LTGUSA] “[Our students read your publication] as homework for learning about the G-4s objectives. They are allowed to retain their copies and I know a few still have theirs from when I attended the course…” [G-4 Training Specialist, USA] “Thank you so much for the opportunity to be the MAE cover feature Q&A…It was an awesome experience…[Your editor] was amazing…” [Continuing Education Supervisor, Afghanistan, USA] “My library has asked that we could not only increase the Special Operations Technology Magazine to 150 copies, but start getting Ground Combat Technology at 150 copies and Military Information Technology at 100 copies … they’ve started getting requests for them and suggested we get enough to make a mass distribution…” [CIV, USSOCOM] “Now that all of our DISA employees have relocated to the new DISA complex at Fort Meade, we have notice that our magazine display racks are being emptied rather quickly. Since we have multiple building entrances with increased traffic, is it possible to get at least 3 boxes sent to our office per month?” [Public Affairs, Defense Information Services Agency] KMI Media Group 6

  • 25. Every year at least 40% of military leadership retire, move or are promoted. To stay on top of these changes, we constantly verify our circulation with personal phone calls from our team of circulation specialists to ensure our lists are current and accurate. KMI Media Group publications deliver maximum advertising ROI with no waste, laser- focused circulation. • Do we deliver more readers? No. We deliver the right readers! • Are we audited? No. There is much better technology today to assure readership, and we’re more than happy to show you our list, which will tell you much more than the numbers on an audit statement. • The hows and whys behind our circulation methodology – the strategy and the tactics: We identify exactly who you need to reach at the highest echelons of military/DoD – flag officers, PEOs, etc. This is a by-product of senior leadership’s experience and institutional knowledge of the military. The database is updated on a daily basis with the most current available data from numerous sources – including the Pentagon. • We don’t sell, rent or buy lists. We also don’t take someone’s word for it when they check off a box on our subscription request form claiming seniority and/or purchasing authority. • Keeping our lists as current as possible requires monitoring and maintenance on a daily basis. Every day we scour DoD briefings, military newswires and so on for the latest news on promotions, retirements, deployments, casualties. Every day we are on the phone…Is General John Smith still at Fort Bragg? If not, where did he go? Is there a replacement who should be receiving the publication? • Protocol matters. Has Colonel Jane Jones been promoted to General yet? Yes. We’ll change the label. • While we qualify and verify our subscriber lists every business day of the year, some of our competitive publications which are audited have as much as 25% of their circulation qualified within TWO years. Some even report qualifying readers within THREE years. So when you advertise in a KMI Media Group publication you won’t have to wonder… ”Am I really reaching my target audience in the most efficient way?” The answer is YES. Your Best Guarantee of Reaching Your Target Audience KMI Media Group 25
  • 26. Congress, Military & Industry We first identify the relevant military commands for each magazine • Then we utilize a range of resources to compile the subscriber list • Official DoD Tables of Organization • Carroll’s Directories • Military Association Directories • Professional Journals – We comb trade publications to identify changes in commands and reorganization/ realignments Web Subscription Requests – Less than 50% accepted Personal phone calls – We are not content to accept at face value the information from directories or other sources Targeted digital newsletters through Constant Contact allow us to keep our distribution lists up to date by verifying the continued accuracy of email contacts. The KMI Circulation Model This is the only system that assures saturation of target audiences. KMI Media Group 26

  • 40. KMI Media Group Websites The business model of KMI is print publications. However, with the rapid changes to technology and the plethora of digital opportunities, we recognize the need to provide the opportunities for our readership to access our digital versions of the publications online, which can be viewed on any platform, including mobile and tablets. KMI has a corporate website and each of our publications has a unique website of their own… all integrating together. In effect, one website actually gives the reader direct access to 12 other websites…all relating to the defense industry. And while other publications have gone strictly digital, or tout their websites as the focal point with high traffic numbers…KMI provides something else – high conversion rates. We deliver the right type of customer to the right type of business. KMI Media Group 40
