  • 1. How Do I Know if I Have Hearing Loss?
  • 2. Had a little difficulty hearing lately and left wondering whether you might have ahearing loss? Ask yourself a few questions.
  • 3. -Do you feel strained or tired after a conversation?-Do you often have to ask for repetition?-Do you hear, but just do not always understand? -Does it seem like everyone else mumbles?
  • 4. -Do you miss portions of conversation? -Do you miss soft sounds or high-pitched sounds like the telephone? -Is seeing the other personsface necessary for you to carry on a conversation?
  • 5. If you answered yes to two or more of these questions, youmay have a hearing impairment.While even persons with normal hearing may miss pieces ofinformation now and again, it is much more the case for those with hearing impairment.
  • 6. If you answered yes to even one of those questions, it maybe time to see an audiologist or other hearing healthcareprofessional to get evaluated. A diagnostic hearing evaluationwill be completed to determine ifa hearing impairment exists and its severity.
  • 7. A sound treated room will be used to provide a very quietatmosphere. You will be seated comfortably wearing headphones or insert ear phones. Testing is simple, requiring repetition of words and signaling when various sounds are heard.
  • 8. It may be hard to receivethe results validating your concerns about your hearing, but do not be afraid to take this step.Determining the extent ofthe issue will only lead to solutions!
