Creative Commons & Collective Rights Management
Creative Commons and collecting societies in the Netherlands have launched a pilot program to give artists more flexibility in how their works are licensed. The program allows artists who are members of collecting societies like Buma/Stemra to transfer non-commercial rights to their works to Creative Commons, while commercial rights remain with the collecting society. This lets artists choose a Creative Commons license for non-commercial use while still having their commercial works managed by the collecting society.
