1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge former conventions of real media products? Ornela<br /> <br />*There are many similarities between our music video and other music videos which share the same genre but also other conventions. The theme of love is universal theme which attracts a large, 18-23. The mice en scene was very important in helping create these conventions. The main male/perform a hoodie, jeans and jewellery also know as bling. Lastly we conformed the female gazed used in music videos by using an attractive female dressed in a sexy red dress which is of interest to the main male performer.<br />Our Music Video Bow wows Music video<br />________________________________________________________*Whilst working on the video we decided to develop some conventions associated with RnB music videos. The usual effects used in RnB videos are cuts and fades (conventional) we however experimented and used a range of editing techniques. For example we have used dissolves and slides to help tell out narrative. We created a movie style opening by using a text but also using a narrative to create a post modernist approach an example of something similar to what we are doing is Lady Gaga’s paparazzi video.<br />_____________________________________________________<br />*As our target audience range from 18-23 we aimed to reflect what these young adults do in their spare time and that is usually socialising, partying and enjoying themselves. By including this we want the audience to be able to see themselves in the characters but also in the situation this helps target as they can identify with it. <br />Our music video<br />_____________________________________________________<br />*However, our music video challenges those of real RnB music videos.<br />_____________________________________________________<br />*We have used black and white techniques at various points in the video. This was very effective as it showed imagination.<br />*The movie style opening is not conventional in music RnB videos but we used the key post modernist feature to make our video memorable, creative and stand out from the rest. This is also very effective in attracting audiences from different angles and not sticking to the usual mainstream audiences.<br />_____________________________________________________<br />*In my opinion what makes our music video unique is the fact that we have used a range of conventional and unconventional features. <br /> _____________________________________________________<br />*The theme of moment is constantly reoccurring. For example the tracking shot of the feet and the building implies moving image, time and change. This links also links into the title of the song. This was purposely done to explore the theme of movement. <br />_____________________________________________________<br />*The use of green screen which was filmed on the tri-caster is a convention of many hip/hop music videos. This makes the video look professional and technological. The single coloured background is the typical black/white backgrounds uses in such videos. <br />_____________________________________________________<br />*Having a variety of locations is conventional in most hip hop and rnb videos. We used a lot of close-ups and establishing shots which are in sync with the beat.
