Hi! My name is... I want to take a few minutes to tell you about a fantastic volunteer opportunity called “GiveCamp.” This is a weekend-long event that happens all over the country, and one is being held right here in Cleveland the weekend of Friday, July 20th.
Givecamp is 1 weekend
To help local non-profits
Build websites, mobile apps, databases, small applications and more!
GiveCamp is looking for all kinds of skill sets: People to build and design the projectsPMs and BAs to gather req’s from the client and scope the project to be completed in two daysQA to testThen all of the creative folks, and SEO as wellAnd if you or someone you know might want to volunteer but couldn’t help out on the delivery of the project, they’re also looking for Staff to help run the event
So what would you be doing over the course of the weekend?
You’d show up on Friday evening with your computer to the Old Hornblower’s boat which is docked near Burke Lakefront Airport and the USS Cod. This is a small dev shop called LeanDog’s headquarters and they’re hosting the event. So you’ll kinda be spending you’re weekend boating!Throughout the weekend, you’ll meet a bunch of other Cleveland Tech ProsGet fed meals and snacks throughout the entire weekend,Sharpen your skills as you work on projects that are probably much different than you’re everyday workAnd finally, at the end of the day, you can opt to pitch a tent (not kidding!) Or if you’re not into that, you can of course head home to sleep in your own bed
On Sunday, you’ll put the finishing touches on your project and hand it over to the client…
You can either sign up on your own at CLEVELANDGIVECAMP.ORG or contact Nicole Kusold who will be putting together Rosetta teams for this event.Hope you’ll consider volunteering & I thank you for your time!
