How does my music magazine represent social groups
1. How does my Music Magazine ‘Melody Beats’ represent a social group?
The genre that I chose to base my music magazine on was R&B. For many years now this genre of
music has been associated with youngsters particularly those around 14-24, because of this I also
chose to target my music magazine to that age group. My magazine represents this social group as I
have included images of young R&B artists of whom the audience can relate to through aspirations
to be like them or through the clothes that these young artists wear.
2. The colours which I chose for my magazine were white, yellow, red and black. I chose these colours
as in similar music magazines similar colours where used which obviously suggested that these
colours have a youth element, again something that my target audience can relate to.
The language used in my magazine is quite colloquial and modern. This is so the audience can
understand what the magazine is about and also helps them to feel comfortable as it is written on a
similar communication level.
