Bobs furniture awarding grants to schools
1. Each year, Bob’s Outreach receives thousands of submissions and selects one K-
12 school in each of the nine states (CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, MD, VA)
where Bob's Discount Furniture stores are located to win a $5,000 grant. The
money is used to support cultural arts programs during the 2011-2012 school
years.
As part of the contest, each winning school receives a special delivery from a
representative of Bob's Discount Furniture Outreach Team, who awards the
grant and visits with students and faculty.
"Bob's has always been supportive of education and the arts, and we are pleased
to continue granting these donations to schools so they can supplement and
enhance their arts programs," said Cathy Poulin, Public Relations Director,
Bob’s Discount Furniture. "It’s always amazing to see the gratitude of the faculty
and students when presenting our grant checks.“
“The West Woods school community was thrilled! The news about winning
Bob's Celebrate the Arts Contest came at the perfect time,” said Principal Alicia
Bowman of the West Woods Upper Elementary School in Farmington, Conn.
2. “We will use this money to support cultural programs that enrich our
curriculum and serve as hallmark experiences for our fifth and sixth graders.”
“Winning the Celebrate the Arts Contest is a dream come true for our teachers,
students and community,” said Principal Vicki Stewart of the Central School in
South Berwick, Maine. “Our team really values arts in education and we’re
constantly looking for innovative ways to provide unique opportunities to
enrich our student programs.”
