The Vice Chancellor announced that UUM will undergo restructuring by reducing its faculties from 13 to 3 colleges. This new structure is similar to prestigious universities like Imperial College London. Although new appointments will be made on August 15th, current deans and heads of departments will retain their roles until December 31st 2007 for a smooth transition. The VC hopes this change will help UUM excel and compete globally. It will be challenging but a task force will disseminate information to address uncertainties during the transition period.
