it is a program organised by GoEco, a non-profit organisation which coordinates these kinds of projects. It’s aim is to preserve the Australian reefs and their wildlife. The Great Barrier Reef is home to many endangered animals, including over thirty types of whales, dolphins, 1,500 fish species, and much more, so by volunteering here, you are helping one of the richest ecosystems in the world recover. in this trip, you travel to the Great Barrier Reef in either July or August for 12 days, with up to 12 people. Full accomodation is provided, including food, the hotel and and all equipment. Here, you will spend your first days getting your Open Water certification, and for the next week, work in conservation efforts will begin.
These include researching, collecting data and analysing the conditions of the reef, in a total of 12 dives in 6 different locations, always accompanied by some of the best marine biologists in the area. Aside from this, the last day will be spent on a visit to a turtle rehabilitation centre, where further volunteer work may be provided. Overall it’s a great trip to spend your summer in, and anyone aged 18-80 can participate.
