Latriece Williams Peer Evaluations
1. Peer Evaluations:
I choose these evaluations because they were helpful feedback in the outcome of the final
document. Negative feedback will not help others but possibly discourage them. If a person does
a good job express that, but if any corrections are needed, point them out and explain. This was
the feedback given by me and received from others:
I enjoyed your reflective essay. I thought it was very descriptive and it reminded me of
my upbringing. I liked when you described your appearance as a pair with your mother it
created a nice visual. What I did see that may improve your essay is a clearer
introduction. Your title is Sandwich, but I didn't hear about a sandwich until close to the
ending of the essay. Your introduction mentioned a brief sentence on a sandwich but it
seemed like it was just thrown in there. The structure could be organized a little better.
Create new paragraphs for new topics. Maybe break the intro down and create a great
punch line to go with the title. Overall it was pleasant to read. Good job.
This was great! I liked the way you transitioned your essay from a negative perspective
in the beginning then shifted the mood to a more positive ending. The detail was all there
and you expressed your feelings about Venezuela really well. I think we all need to take a
trip to Venezuela to see the things we all take for granted. Life should not be that hard,
and it's sad to see that it exists in other countries. I enjoyed reading your essay. I didn’t
see any grammar issues. It was structured and organized well. Good Job.
I believe that your cartoon will spark a good amount of debate. It will be interesting to
see when you research this cartoon what the illustrators motives behind this particular
cartoon where.
I noticed as I am looking at this cartoon that George Washington and Thomas Jefferson
are looking at Obama with skepticism while Roosevelt and Lincoln have an uh-oh
expression on their faces.
I notice that in the illustration Obama’s skin isn’t depicted as African American. Why is
that? So maybe the illustrator is saying something different. Obama was raised by a
single mother and achieved presidency. That is something special in itself as well. Not a
lot of children who come from single parent homes manage to go on to higher education.
Just a side note on the fact that not a lot of people know much about African American
heritage; I think you may be surprised on how much your fellow students do know. I
have been through numerous classes and have learned a lot about what African
Americans have endured. Also Obama has been in the spotlight due to his being
President and he is our first African American President and that is something to respect.
Our culture has come a long way over the years. That may be why his hand are in the in
a V. V for victory.
Hi Latriece. Here are some recommendations for your analysis. 1. The font should be
Times New Roman, not Arial. The margins should be no more than 1 inch. 2. Since the
cartoon is fairly large, you'll want to make sure you have a minimum of 2.5 pages of
written analysis - your analysis looks a bit short to me. 3. My first impression of the
analysis - some of the statements were a little confusing. For instance, when you say to
the audience "So if you tuned in to the 2008 election broadcasted (you might want to
say, election that was broadcast) all over the world, then you know why Heller asked the
question, “now what?” .......But as the audience, I still don't know why Heller asked the
2. question "now what?" Perhaps you can mention a few specific ideas that Obama said he
would put into place once he became President then tie those statements into how the
cartoon was delivered. Also, in your last sentence of "This illustration demonstrates high
achievement but not the success of expectations." Not quite sure what is meant by this. I
agree the cartoon shows Obama's high achievement (by standing on top of Mt.
Rushmore), but I don't quite grasp the "but not the success of expectations." You might
want to clarify this statement. 4. I see Obama on top of Mt. Rushmore - he looks
comfortable up there, like he belongs there with the other great presidents (Washington
and Jefferson are giving the president a look of acceptance). So, to me the author is
depicting Obama as a force who can can potentially be as strong as other great
presidents such as Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln. You have some very
good statements, but you need to tie those statements into how they relate to the
cartoon. Hope this helps!
