1. Buttercream Icing – from Wilton….the cake decorating people.
This Buttercream Icing recipe is perfect for spreading or decorating. Follow our instructions to
make it the ideal consistency you need.
Ingredients:
• 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
• 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine softened
• 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
• 4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar (approximately 1 lb.)
• 2 tablespoons milk
Makes: About 3 cups of icing.

Easy Buttercream Icing
Ingredients
Makes 5 cups (enough for one 5-inch cake and 75 cupcakes)
• 4 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
• 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
• 6 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
Directions
1. Beat butter and vanilla with a mixer on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy,
about 2 minutes. Reduce speed to low. Add sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well
after each addition. Raise speed to high, and beat until well combined, 10 to 20
seconds more. Transfer to a bowl, and cover with plastic wrap until ready to use.
