1. SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT WITH GREEN TOYS
Why should we care about Green Toys? Think
about this.
When your kid eagerly tears open a brand new
toy’s packaging, you assume the contents are
safe for your child; this is not always the case.
With over two-dozen recalls from American toy
manufacturers last year, it is natural to question
what toys are safe for your kids.
THE NEED FOR GREEN TOYS
Lead-laced toys alone accounted for several of those recalls. Many US toy companies allow unsafe
materials into our children’s toy-boxes when they outsource manufacturing to nations with laxer
regulations. Other hazards from last year’s recalls include choking and suffocation from parts falling
off or coming loose. These hazards mean parents have to be careful when picking out toys.
Even toys that pass all US standards may be
questionable.
In other parts of the world toymakers are banned from
selling toys with certain chemicals in their plastics; here
those same chemicals are fair game.
In one chilling story, Chinese law enforcement raided a
toy factory for selling its toys in China; those same
confiscated toys eventually ended up on US shelves.
HERE’S GREEN TOYS!
The good news? One American toy company is stepping up. Using recycled food grade plastics (milk
jugs); the Green Toys company of California not only leaves a smaller carbon footprint, but creates
toys that are safe for children. “Made in the USA” means no shipping on oil fueled tankers and
simple, recycled, cardboard packaging means less materials for landfills.
Green Toys are free from dangerous substances like lead, PBA and phthalates, something not all toys
can claim. Featuring vehicles like trucks and cars, dishes in pretty pastels, building blocks, and more,
mom and dad can have a little peace of mind, while the kids won’t know the difference. GREEN
TOYS are sold in many locations across the US and other countries as well.
