AROUND NÜRBURGRING
The Range Rover Sport SVR has lapped the famous Nordschleife circuit at the Nürburgring in Germany in 8 minutes 14 seconds, making it the fastest production SUV around the Nürburgring. The impressive feat was carried out by a Land Rover driver testing a standard production example of the potent new performance flagship.
The new SVR, which made its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June returned to the Nürburgring this month to continue an exhaustive testing schedule. The Range Rover Sport SVR is powered by an uprated version of Land Rover’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, which has been tuned to deliver 550PS.
The Range Rover Sport SVR features a twin-speed transfer case to provide a choice of high and low gear ratios and the same 850mm wading depth as other models in the Range Rover Sport line-up.
The Range Rover Sport SVR will arrive in our showrooms in 2015.

MEMORIES OF JAPAN

7. As we revealed in our last issue our
dealership won 'second place' in
Land Rover's 'Dealer of the Year'
Awards. As a reward, our dealer
principal Robert Bonser took an all
expenses paid trip to Japan.
This was the second time I’d won a place on the
Dealer of the Year trip and I’ve got to say, it was
very different to the sorts of destinations you’d
usually go to on your summer holiday! Visiting
somewhere different to the norm was really
exciting for me.
Tokyo was just fantastic. Looking out of our hotel
window and seeing the city spread out before
us is a sight that will always stay with me and my
fellow guests. It was absolutely phenomenal. The
Shangri-La was higher than most other buildings
and the city looked huge… full of life and energy!
It was simply breath taking.
Living the life of luxury continued upon making
our journey from Kyoto to Hakone past Mount
Fuji. The Shinkansen (Bullet Train) really did live up
to its name by travelling at a whopping 180 mph...
and it was so comfortable in first class! The ride to
remember though has to be sharing the rickshaw
with my pal, Kevin. We couldn’t stop laughing!
Culturally, Japan is unique. You could tell
from some of the temples we visited that it’s a
completely different way of life. We were walking
on the wooden floors in Nijo Castle in our socks
but the second you put your foot down you could
hear this chirping sparrow-like shriek which went
right around the whole temple! This served the
purpose of warning the Samurai of intruders, but it
was quite surreal.
Giving our all in our very own Samurai masterclass
was particularly insightful, not to mention
hilarious! We all looked pretty amusing sporting
traditional Samurai dress which looked a bit
like a toga – it definitely gave way to certain
proportions, put it that way!
As you’d probably expect, the food was amazing
and it was a real privilege to experience expertly
prepared Japanese cuisine in the heart of Tokyo.
One of my favourite memories was eating in
Robataya, a restaurant where they cooked our
food completely from scratch at our table. Sitting
in a U-shape, with our own personal chef creating
delicious Japanese dishes right in front of us was a
great experience to share within our group.
And to top it all off, a trip to the local karaoke
bar afterwards saw us finish the night in style. I
remember taking to the floor for Tina Turner’s
‘Simply the best’ which went down a storm! A few
of us strutted our stuff too and it was all worth the
after-effects that we felt from our exertions the
next day!
An added little touch that I’ve not seen anywhere
else was from the ground-crew at Tokyo airport.
As we backed away from the gate, they lined up
to wave us off with a farewell smile!

for the big announcement!

10. TAKE YOUR FIRST LOOK
Land Rover Discovery Sport prototypes have covered approximately 750,000 test miles during the testing and development phase for the vehicle. It was also tested to water depths of 600mm and to temperatures of -36 degrees in North America to 42 degrees in the deserts of Dubai. A total of 9,767 tests were carried out on the vehicle. The car was also tested to inclines of 40 degrees and declines of 45 degrees.
Murray Dietsch, Programme Director, Land Rover said: “We start with an idea and build from there, spending years refining a design and completing virtual testing before the first prototypes see the tarmac. Discovery Sport prototypes have covered approximately 750,000 miles during the testing phase in some of the world’s harshest and most challenging terrains and climates.”
The new Discovery Sport will be revealed globally on Wednesday 3rd September.

The team's goal was to raise cash for Magnolia House in Sheffield which is
provided by the Charity for parents of seriously ill children at the Sheffield
Children's Hospital. The challenge started at what the team saw as the UK's ultimate 'home'... Buckingham Palace - and ended
at Magnolia house in Sheffield.
Marcus has raised a stunning £68,199.28 for the charity over the last five years (not including Bank Holiday Monday's cycle ride!) - an amazing achievement, I think you'll agree.
So far, the cycle ride has raised £3,245.47 on the 'justgiving.com page' - with more cash set to roll in.

Land Rover has announced equipment upgrades for its Freelander SUV, as well as the introduction of a new range-topping Metropolis version. Based on the outgoing HSE LUX trim, it includes premium leather, electric seats, a panoramic sunroof, xenon headlights, reversing camera and 19-inch alloys.
There are also new SE and SE tech trims and revised powertrain options. The revised line-up are on sale now with on-the-road prices from £27,765.
The new range features a three-grade line-up headed by the Metropolis, which replaces the HSE as the most luxurious Freelander yet.

20. The new 2014 Evoque has been given a suite of technical changes to improve fuel economy and efficiency, including a new nine-speed automatic gearbox. Other updates include engine stop-start technology (previously unavailable on automatic Evoques) and a new four-wheel-drive system called Active Driveline, which has fuel-saving benefits.
The system, which is available on petrol models initially, lets the Evoque run in front-wheel-drive mode at speeds above 22mph, but it will also send power to the rear wheels when it senses extra traction is needed. These new technologies have cut CO2 by up to 9.5%, while fuel economy is boosted by as much as 11%. Call for further details, or to arrange a test drive.

21. THE INTERIOR
Range Rover Evoque’s contemporary interior combines sophisticated

The tailgate can be opened using the key fob, a switch on the facia or

A sliding armrest improves comfort in the front of the vehicle and is now
specified on all models. Beautifully finished and made from high quality
materials to match the individual interior theme, the armrest slides forward
15cm whilst still providing access to the front cup holder.
REAR HEATED SEATS†
Heated rear seats are now available for the first time on Range Rover
Evoque. The system has three heating levels that can be set via switches on
the rear of the centre console.

With five colours and several brightness configurations to choose from,

Often the damage is too small to require bodyshop attention so more often than not, these things are left unattended.
At Gordon Lamb we have two vans permanently on the road, operated by our professional staff, who do nothing other than repairing these chips and dents.
