    The makers of http://dev.mobi have just released the updated version 2.0 of http://ready.mobi - registered dev.mobi users (registration is free of charge) can test not only a single page, but their whole web site with it, getting very valuable feedback on the likelyhood to achieve a good experience.

    iPhone developers should be exited: The better you apply the joint dotmobi/W3C MWI Best Practice guidelines that http://ready.mobi checks for, the better will your site work out on ALL full web browser capable phones (something that the developers http://iphone.facebook.com could easily achieve - at best by additionally offering a fully functional mobile http://facebook.mobi site behing the name that they have already registered... after all there were literally 1 billion mobile phones sold last year, of which a majority have XHTML capable browsers - it seems odd to not actively support such a huge portion of the audience..)

    Agencies now have a simple way of fully embracing mobile users AND desktop users within the same markup and browser technology thanks to the fully endorsed XHTML and CSS, and can instead on technology concentrate on bringing out the best usability for each target group - by setting the right scope of navigation, giving priority for quick one-shot use cses / immediate gratification / urgent response / spontaneity when designing mobile propoerties for their customers.

    Many more high value brands have made their live and fully functional mobile targeted content behind dotmobi sites - including Microsoft with http://live.mobi, Google at http://google.mobi or http://amazon.mobi

    Recent Highlights in the American Market were the official support of The Weather Channel per http://weather.mobi, the award winning dining and entertainment guide Zagat: http://zagat.mobi and Disney, who targeted their audience by a TV-Advertising supported cmpaign for their High School Movie pointing to http://hsm2.mobi

    • Most cellphones still without QWERTY keyboard
    • Speed – Mobile phones are slow and come nowhere near ADSL and cable connections. HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) not readily available to consumers outside of Asia and still slower
    • High network costs – few “all you can call/surf” packages available outside of Asia
