3. JESUS CHRIST
Our Message!
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all that I have commanded you.
(Matthew 28:19-20).
Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to
house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the
good news that Jesus is the Messiah. (Acts 5:42)
4. JESUS CHRIST
Our Message!
Modern man listens more willingly to
witnesses than to teachers, and if he
does listen to teachers, it is because
they are witnesses.
Pope Paul VI
6. VISITATION
Our Model!
That of Mary is an authentic missionary
journey. It is a journey that leads her far from
home […]. Here, also for all of us, lies the secret
of our lives as men and women and Christians.
Our existence, as individuals and as a Church is
projected outside ourselves. […] We are asked to
come out of ourselves, from where we feel safe,
to reach out to others in different places and
surroundings.
(Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, Speech for the conclusion of the Marian month, May 31, 2010).
7. VISITATION
Our Model!
She was full, physically, of Christ and irradiated
Him with just her presence. Jesus came out
from her eyes, her face and her entire person.
When one perfumes oneself it is not necessary
to announce it; it is enough simply to stand near
the person to sense it, and Mary, most especially
during the time she carried Him in her womb,
was full of the perfume of Christ.
(Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap., Advent 2011)
9. MAGNIFICAT
Our Mission!
My soul magnifies the LORD
My spirit rejoices in God, my Savior
For He has looked with favor on His
lowly servant
And behold, all generations will call
me blessed.
10. MAGNIFICAT
Our Mission!
We have come to the truest meaning and most genuine
purpose of every missionary journey: to give people the
living and personal Gospel, which is the Lord Jesus
Christ himself. And Jesus’ Gospel is a communication
and a gift which - as Elizabeth testifies - fills the heart
with joy: "For at the moment the sound of your greeting
reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for
joy." (Lk 1:44). Jesus is the only true treasure to give to
humanity. It is for Him that the men and women of our
time have a deep longing, even when they seem to ignore
or reject him.”
(Source: BXVI, Speech for the conclusion of the Marian month, May 31, 2010)
11. MAGNIFICAT
Our Mission!
For He has looked with favor on His
lowly servant
And behold, all generations will call
me blessed.
The Almighty has done great things
for me, and holy is His Name.
12. MAGNIFICAT
Our Mission!
He has mercy on those who fear Him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of His arm
He has scattered the proud and lifted
up the lowly
He has filled the hungry with good
things
and the rich He has sent away empty.
13. MAGNIFICAT
Our Mission!
He has come to the help of His
servant Israel
For He has remembered His promise
of mercy
The promise He made to our fathers,
To Abraham and his children forever.
14. MAGNIFICAT
Our Mission!
Magnifying – How can I bring God?
Joyful – How can I cultivate joy?
Humble – Who am I in God’s sight?
Thankful – How has God worked…?
Merciful – How has God shown mercy?
15. PRAYER
Our Means!
The Lord tells us: ‘the first task in life is
this: prayer.’ But not the prayer of
words, like a parrot; but the prayer, the
heart: gazing on the Lord, hearing the
Lord, asking the Lord. […] We know
that prayer works miracles. And not
praying is this: closing the door to the
Lord, so that He can do nothing.
Pope Francis, October 8, 2013 homily
16. PRAYER
Our Means!
He evangelizes more who prays
without speaking than he "
who speaks without praying.
Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap., Advent 2011
17. Our Method!
‘None of the rulers of this age
understood this, for if they had,
they would not have crucified the
LORD of glory.’ We, however,
profess to know Him, and when we
deny Him by our deeds, we in some
way seem to lay violent hands on
Him. Catechism of the Catholic Church #598
18. LOVE
Our Method!
Missionary work is
useless if one does
not love and is
not loved.
St. Joseph Freinademetz,
missionary to the Chinese
19. LOVE
Our Method!
I earnestly ask you to treat…the leaders
and all the people…with great love; for if
you are on good terms with your people
and are loved by them, you will render
great service to God. Learn how to
endure their frailties with great
patience, remembering that if they are
not yet good, they will be so in time.
St. Francis Xavier, Patron of Missionaries
20. LOVE
Our Method!
…true charity consists in putting
up with all one’s neighbor’s faults, "
never being surprised by his
weakness, and being inspired "
by the least of his virtues.
St. Thérèse of Lisieux, Patron of Missionaries
