1. Biomes in a Box Project
Objectives:
To become more acquainted with a particular biome.
To learn more about the plants and animals that live in that biome.
To become acquainted with the weather and climate of that biome.
Biomes consist of two things:
Biotic factors- living features, plants, animals, etc.
Abiotic factors- weather, climate, water, sunlight, terrain, etc.
Project Checklist:
Make sure you have the following in your final project:
2 page paper that includes:
Elevation
Humidity/temperature
Terrain
World location (talk about it or show a map)
Environmental Problem in the area
2 plants from each person
2 animals from each person
Climatograph that shows temperature and rainfall for the 12 months of the year
(colored) Make on computer for extra credit!
Biome box which has the following in it:
2 animals from each person
2 plants from each person
Show elevation and terrain
Show general look of biome ( mountains, valleys, etc…)
All members must present and speak during presentation of box, paper, and graph.
Don’t forget to look at the rubric for grading.

3. Draw what your box will look like:
What materials will you need?
You will be provided:
Scissors
Glue
Construction paper
Random arts and crafts supplies (felt, glitter glue, feathers, craft sticks, etc…. when
available)
List other materials you will bring from home:
Boxes will be provided for only 1 group per class. The group that receives a box must
have the best rough draft and must have worked well that day. All other groups must
provide their own box. Do not go smaller than a shoebox!
