In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? The title of my magazine represents the music and the magazines genre, with a pun that relates to the magazines writing style and its content, which is the basics of Hip-Hop. I used a similar title font as the already published Hip-Hop magazine ‘The Source’. This is a good font because it is bold and resembles my title, basics. I used a simple background. This adds the effect of basic, easy reading and makes my picture stand out more with colour and bold shape. The background makes the writing stand out more and my title isn't colour clashing. A big bold title of the name of the artist on the front cover. This is to advertise the artists name and trademark. This represents my artist trademark name or nickname and when its read people can automatically see what the magazine is about. I used this person as my artist model for the front cover of my magazine because he very much fits the Hip-Hop style in that he dresses, acts and likes Hip-Hop as a whole. To make the magazine look Hip-Hop I used this model to portray it within a first glance.
How does your media product represent particular social groups? SIMILARITIES DIFFERENCES Facial expressions. Tattoos. Simple pose. Height/weight. Clothing style. Confidence. Stance. The main similarity between these two modelling artists are the clothing style and interest in the brands BBC, BATHING APE and ICE CREAM. These brands are modelled and advertised by Pharrell and Ricken Ram often wears the brands.
Who would be the audience for your media product? My audience will be mostly males of the African Caribbean ethnicity and white males. The age range of the audience reading and buying my magazine will be between 15 and 25. People aged between 15 and 25 are most likely to be reading my magazine because that the average age of Hip Hop artists and the language portrayed is not usual enjoyed by older more mature people. Also the style of the artists is very young in the way they dress, with jeans worn low and t-shirts with brands that are made and worn by younger people.
How did you attract/address your audience? To attract the desired audience for my magazine i used a technique called a pitch. My pitch was 25 words and was made to be short and snappy, but including slight information that told the audience what my magazine was about. The pitch was very effective and i made 5 and chose the best that I produced. This was my final pitch that i produced and used to advertise my magazine to my desired audience: ''Base, Beats, Booms and Blasts.. Is Your Life lacking this? Get the Hip-Hop Magazine that can change that.. Bass-ics''
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? During my project i used different programmes and web pages to complete my work to a good standard. I used Photoshop and Blogger as my main programmes/web page. I used Photoshop to edit and adjust my work on my magazine. This programme helped me to edit m work to the way i wanted it and it made changing work around a lot easier and neater. I used such tools as the magnetic lasso, colour filler, colour variation and feathering. These tools all helped make my magazine as real as other live selling magazine that are selling worldwide today. Blogger was a big help in completing my work because it kept me organized and up to date with all work and exercises. I posted my work onto my individual blog which could be viewed by my teachers and other students, and my comments i got off others could provide help and advise to make my work better.
Looking back at your preliminary task (the school magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product? During the course i have learnt a lot about the media world and have learnt to use many different media related programmes and websites. The main improvement i have made is my use of Photoshop, how i edited and improved my work and also how i can make my magazine look like a magazine that is big and selling in the world at this point in time. I also learnt a lot about camera work, camera angles and how the camera can change the audiences view on the picture that has been taken. I have learnt camera angles and portrayed this in my magazine, using a mid-shot for my front cover, long shot for my double page spread and other shots throughout finding the final pictures to use. I used the internet to find out about the shots and learnt how to use the shots throughout the project, perfecting the shots towards the end ready to shoot for my final draft.
